Great Way to Start the Work Week

eden08122015

Happy Monday!  I’ll be at my cardiologist’s office today.  I chose this song for today; it goes wonderfully with today’s message.  I hope it lifts and encourages you as we start a new week.  God bless you all!  Thanks, Michael W. Smith!

Lining Your Desires Up With God’s

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God uses our desires to accomplish His desires.

This is why we are gifted in different ways, talented in different areas, etc.  The Bible tells us that God gives us the desires of our hearts. (Psalm 37:4)  He uses those desires to accomplish His will and His desires for us.  He uses those desires to bless others through us.  Think about how many people doctors and nurses, policemen, firefighters, and rescue workers bless through their professions.  That’s just one example.  Look around, and you’ll find out that everybody has a call on their life; and they’re gifted and talented in ways that will empower them to answer it.

Here’s the key to lining up your desires with God’s:  “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”  (Col. 3:23)  Psalm 37:5 tells us to “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”  (KJV)  When we begin to look at different things that touch our hearts, ways in which we are gifted and talented, and things we seem to just have a knack for, we have a list of “desires.”  The next step is to seek ways to use them to bless others, and to serve the Lord/LORD with.  The next thing you know, your desires are lined up with God’s, and some awesome things can happen-in your life, and in the lives of others.

Have a Beautiful Sunday!

Here’s my choice of song for today.  This is one we need to remember every day.  Thank you, once again, Gaither Band, for a wonderful rendition.

P.S. When you feel like your life is lacking, search for the lack within you; that usually will lead you to the solution.

You Must Prepare to Feel the Abundance

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that life can feel like painful preparation.  It really isn’t as painful as we like to make it out to be, though, most of the time.  This message ties in with Saturday’s message which speaks to us about cultivating and maintaining a feeling of plentiful supply; abundance of life, as well.

Cultivating this feeling is a matter of preparation.  Prepare to find the best deals.  Prepare to feast, rather than just eat.  I wrote about this in a previous post.  Little things can make big differences.  This feeling is brought to life and kept flowing through our lives when we seek the best in everything; whether it be in material things, or in others around us.  As we cultivate this feeling of blessing, rather than one of enduring the “curses” of living, we begin to find more and more blessing, feel more and more blessed, and become more and more blessing to others.

Saturday Silly – July 6, 2019

eden08122015

“Well, Officer, these fireworks went off, and these two pigeons came flying up and almost ran right into each other in mid-air…well no, that’s not true…pigeons don’t run…well, not in mid-air, anyway…they almost flew into each other in mid-air…of course, they’d be flying in the air…ohhhhh…I’m so sorry I rear ended you, Sir….                                                    nncnp3g17zovk80h1ao5tgkn9q85wu9

That all actually went through my mind, on the fourth of July, as I was crossing the street…well, all except for that rear ending the officer part, thank God…and the fireworks did scare a couple of pigeons up into the air…and they almost collided in mid air…I’m still laughing at the sight. But really, you guys, shoo the pigeons away first, next time. That could have been bad…being hit by a falling pigeon…

Sit Back and Enjoy the Cruise

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that Jesus is at the helm of the ship.  He’s got the wheel.

We’re bid to trust, remembering that He’s with us all the time.  We are promised that we are invincible.  “I can do all things, through Christ Jesus, who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)  We need to remember this when we start to feel overwhelmed.  It might prompt us to seek Jesus out, sooner than later.  Actually, when we are diligent about keeping an attitude of faith and thankfulness, we don’t need to seek Him.  We’ll realize that He’s always there.  As we grow more and more into that, we truly do become limitless…invincible.

He’s Not A Fair-Weather Friend

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that Jesus is that friend that sticks closer than a brother.  (Proverbs 18:24)

The message speaks to us of perfection, referencing what Jesus said about being perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect.  Quoting directly from the message: “Perfection, that perfection I enjoined on all, the being perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect, is the being like the Great Friend and in turn becoming to others a Great Friend too.”  When I think about that, I think about how many times Jesus has let me down…which is NEVER!  I think about every time that I’ve needed something, didn’t know how I was going to get it, or how I’d be able to do it, or take care of it, etc.  I’d pray, especially in the early days, frantically, earnestly, and sometimes tearfully.  Jesus ALWAYS came through!  Heartbreaks, heartaches, bone-weary body, mind, and soul, Jesus was my comforter.  I lost count of how many nights He “tucked me into bed.”  I’ve felt those arms around me when I didn’t think my legs would hold me.  I heard that soft and gentle voice speaking words of encouragement and love when the world seemed overwhelming.  And I have heard that laughter and almost seen with my own eyes, a Savior, doubled over at some of my “moments.”  Yes, I have; in the Spirit, I sure have.  And, oh, how beautiful to be so loved and cared for.  What a great friend, indeed, is Jesus!

The other part of Proverbs 18:24 says, “a man with many friends may come to ruin…”  That’s a warning to us to choose carefully, whom we call friend; and about the people we allow in our inner circle.  That warning expands into what/whom we choose to listen to, learn from, etc.  The whole message is a powerful one, and I hope you’ll read it for yourselves at twolisteners.org.  Jesus’ words to us were pretty simple and straight forward.  We fail them when we over-think and complicate them.

Seeking Fullness of Spirit

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that spiritual fullness is required to empower us to overcome the world.  “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

This is the scripture referenced by the message.  Here’s a direct quote from the message, that will links the message up with that scripture.  “Do not weigh your spirits down with the sins and sorrows of the world.  Only a Christ can do that and live.  Look for the loving, the true, the kindly, the brave in the many all around you.”  That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t care, or care for the world around us.  First, we must know where to draw the line.  Medical personnel practice preventative hygiene and take preventative measures.  As ministers sent out to a sick and hurting world, we need to do the same thing.  Preventative hygiene for us is that looking for the loving, true, kindly, brave, etc.  We find that, not only in the people all around us, but also in the rest of God’s creation.  We find those things also in God’s Word, and in commune with Him through prayer and praise.  When we make this a daily practice, seeking in every place we find ourselves, we can have that spiritual fullness throughout the day.
