Seeking Fullness of Spirit

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that spiritual fullness is required to empower us to overcome the world.  “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

This is the scripture referenced by the message.  Here’s a direct quote from the message, that will links the message up with that scripture.  “Do not weigh your spirits down with the sins and sorrows of the world.  Only a Christ can do that and live.  Look for the loving, the true, the kindly, the brave in the many all around you.”  That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t care, or care for the world around us.  First, we must know where to draw the line.  Medical personnel practice preventative hygiene and take preventative measures.  As ministers sent out to a sick and hurting world, we need to do the same thing.  Preventative hygiene for us is that looking for the loving, true, kindly, brave, etc.  We find that, not only in the people all around us, but also in the rest of God’s creation.  We find those things also in God’s Word, and in commune with Him through prayer and praise.  When we make this a daily practice, seeking in every place we find ourselves, we can have that spiritual fullness throughout the day.

Belated Peace Officer Memorial Day

eden08122015

Yesterday, the 15th of May, was Peace Officer Memorial Day.  This is my belated shout out to all of you out there who work tirelessly to keep us safe.  Thank you for all you do; I know you quite often go far above and beyond the call of duty.  Thank God it’s not always about murder and mayhem.  I wanted to share something that would let you all know how very special, and how appreciated, you are.  I hope this little clip does it. Thanks again, and God bless you and your families.

Perpetual Springtime in Your Heart

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we can, and should, have perpetual Springtime in our hearts.  That means we can have perpetual renewal of attitude, of effort, of energy.  We are constantly evolving and recreating ourselves as we progress from one level to the next in spirit.  (1 Cor. 14:20) ” In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.”  Babies are about as close to coming face to face with God on this side, I believe.  They don’t judge anyone; they just love.  They’re not looking for the other shoe to drop; they’re excited about whatever’s next…well, most of the time anyway.  The world belongs to them.  That is exactly what God did for us in the beginning.  (Genesis 1:28)  I found the pics below on Google.  Thanks to all the contributors who allow us to use them.

Some of my favorite things about Springtime in Montana…

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, is about feeling the presence of the Lord with us.  I was sitting in the park this morning, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.  I had one of those mockingbird encounters.  I’m pretty sure that was Jesus’ way of saying good morning to me.

He (the bird; not Jesus) started out just chattering at me.  Then there was, “Good morning.”  I was just about to eat a croissant when he chirped something like, “ready?”  I laughed at him and asked, “are you hungry?”  He didn’t answer, but he did come down out of the tree.  Then, he made the rounds under all the empty picnic tables.  There was a man sitting at one table, with his head resting on his arms.  The little mockingbird went back up into his tree, which was just beside that table.  Then I heard what sounded like an alarm going off.  It was the bird.  I said, “are you an alarm clock?”  I laughed when the little man sat up and was looking around.  The next sound that little mockingbird made was like a truck backing up…”beep, beep, beep,” he twittered.  It made my day, but I thought, if I see that little bird moon-walking on that tree limb right now…”  See there, Jesus is a very entertaining Lord.  I could almost hear Him up there giggling at us.  And, I’m sure grateful that He’s the ringmaster in this circus called life.
