Good To Praise, Indeed

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 92. It is a song for the Sabbath. That Sabbath rest is available to me every day as a child of God. So, this song is for every day.

Verses 1-4 confirm it. “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.” Does that give you the impression that we are to remain at rest in the spirit? It does me; and the day I realized that, my life changed. My faith was strengthened so much, and a peace just filled me from head to toe. I know that I know that I know, that no matter what comes along, God’s got me.

Verse 6 reveals something to us, about God. “How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!” This is the very reason you can go back to the same exact scripture time and time again, and come away with something more. (Luke 24:44-45)

The psalm goes on to talk about how the enemies of God will all perish, and the wicked will fall. But, verses 10-15 tell us about the blessings of being a child of God. “But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
” God anoints us daily with fresh oil, or power. If you haven’t seen the downfall of your enemies or evil assailants, you just haven’t heart it yet. Hang in there; God’s got perfect timing! When we are planted in the house of the LORD (firmly in His Word, and Way), we will always flourish and bear fruit, even in our old age. I read just today, in “Daily Bread,” about a woman who was still doing surgery at the age of 92. Is that awesome?! That’s God working in us. I absolutely love the last few words: “The LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” That tells me He will never steer me wrong, never let me down, never fail me. Oh, yes, it is good to praise Him, indeed!

Work At Resting

Today’s message from God Calling – A. J. Russell, bids us to come unto Him; and to stay with Him. The Lord’s presence, you see, is our Sabbath rest. The Sabbath is holy to the LORD/Lord; and that holiness surrounds us as we rest in Him.

It is in the resting in the presence of the LORD/Lord, that power comes to us. “My strength is made perfect in your weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9) “…in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15) My life changed completely, when I learned to just walk in that rest. I learned to stay there at all costs. No, things still don’t always go right; yes, I still get angry, frustrated, upset, etc. But, I can, and do, go right back into that rest immediately, or asap, when I do lose it. It’s a matter of working at it, until we get it so right the devil can’t pull us out anymore. It’s just like that seventy times seven forgiveness thing – in other words, “do it until it comes naturally to you.”

Happy Birthday, my love! My first baby girl is celebrating her 40th birthday today. May your day be blessed with all the love, joy, laughter, and beautiful memories your heart can hold…and then some. And may I tell you, you are my “and them some!” Love you!

There’s Your Sabbath Rest

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that those everlasting arms are always open to us. They are our refuge. (Deuteronomy 33:27) (2 Samuel 22:33) (Proverbs 18:10)

When I think of the arms of Jesus, I think of the Sabbath rest spoken of in Hebrews 4. I want to enter in as often as I can. Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, made exactly that possible. That’s why in Hebrews 4:16, Paul says: “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

We can approach boldly when we remember Jesus’ words: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28)

Incidentally, I did a study on the Sabbath principle not too long ago. The Christian church deems Sunday to be the first day of the week, and the Lord’s Day, according to first fruits principle. Jesus is the Alpha. The work week usually runs from Monday through Saturday; which makes Sunday the seventh day, or Sabbath day. Jesus is also the Omega. But, here’s something awesome. Jesus made the Sabbath rest personal to each one of us. He knew this was necessary. Can you imagine if all the hospitals, police stations, fire stations, etc., were closed on the Sabbath Day? It’s not about a day, folks. It’s about a Savior who wants to have personal and intimate time with you, to refresh, restore, recharge you. It’s about a Savior who wants to reveal Himself, more and more, to you personally.

**I am not trying to get anyone to change the way of their faith, or argue about calendars, principles, of creeds.

Praise God For His Goodness!

Here’s the song for the day!  This one works perfectly with today’s message.  When we get this attitude to stay in our awareness throughout the day, we’re sure to remain in that Sabbath Rest in His Presence.  Bethel Music does such an awesome job here!

The Sabbath Rest Empowered

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God’s friendship is truly deep, intimate, and abiding.

Quoting directly from the message: “But to My subjects I have given the right to enter My Presence when they will, nay more they can summon Me to bedside, to workshop – and I am there.”  We have access to Him any time we want or need it.  We have but to call Him, and He’s there.  Isn’t that a wonderful assurance?!

When we cultivate a constant awareness of this truth, all fears, worries, doubts, etc., truly do vanish.  The Sabbath rest of walking in God’s abiding love, His presence, is empowered.  The longer and stronger our walk in that Sabbath rest is, the more our faith is empowered.

U.S. The Independent San Diego synagogue shooting: Woman killed after ‘teenager opens fire’ on worshippers celebrating Passover

eden08122015

I’m terribly saddened by the news of yet one more hate crime.  Your congregation is in my prayers daily, and I stand with you all in spirit.  The woman who died saving the Rabbi’s life showed remarkable courage.  My condolences to her family; you are also in my prayers daily.

May we always remember there is only one supreme being; God.  May we come together, and stand together, as one nation and one race-the human race.
