Maybe The Problem Isn’t Your Ears

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we never ask anything of God, that He does not respond to. He hears every prayer, every complaint, every whine, every whim, every cry. The answer is there. Unfortunately, we often fail to hear it.

Maybe the problem isn’t your ears. It could be your heart. Do you have something you need to tell God? I used to ask my kids that whenever they got distantly quiet, and stopped asking of me, or seeking to speak to me. Sometimes, we load ourselves with guilt over stuff that really doesn’t even matter -at least not that much. We allow ourselves to get distracted, doing, doing, doing…and we do, like, a run by praying. You know, you’re actually going a hundred miles an hour in your mind at church and, “God, please make that jerk boss of mine see my point tomorrow, thanks and amen…SEE YA!” Maybe you need to just STOP everything, spend some time in praise and worship, and just get all the clutter and mutter out of your heart…get your peace back on-and in you. It’s always soooo much easier to hear God when the world is quiet!

Every Day It’s There For Us

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that for every task given us, God supplies all that we need to get the job done. We are admonished not to fear, and to claim the wisdom and strength we need; sure that it is there for us.

There’s a statement in the message: “As thy days, so shall thy strength be.” That’s a powerful revelation about choosing to have a good day, or a bad one. One thing that helped me so much to have the day, instead of the day having me, is my morning time with the LORD/Lord. Whether it’s in prayer or praise, make time for God first thing. That sets the tone for the rest of the day. It’s like giving, and receiving that all important hug! I hope you’ll be as blessed by this song as I am. There truly is nobody like our Lord, Jesus! Thank you, Paul Wilbur.

Tender Lights And Restful Shades

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we walk the same path Jesus walked while on Earth; and still does today, really. I encourage you to read the message yourself, at twolisteners.org – Let your spirit absorb all that it means to have that closeness with the Lord. It really does make living for Him sublime.

The longer we walk that path with the Lord, the more beautiful those tender lights and restful shades become. I find myself caught up in them more frequently as the years go by. I shared a beautiful praise song with you recently. “Show Me Your Face,” is the name of it. You all know that I’m homeless, right? Actually, I’m only houseless. Anyway, one morning last week, after I’d put my bedroll together, I said my morning prayer, and sang my Hallelujahs to the Lord, as usual. And then, I sang just the first line of that beautiful song…”Show me your face, Lord, show me your face. And then gird up my legs so I can stand in this Holy Place…” I’d no sooner sung that line, when a man came around the corner, drove down the street. And, turning around, he pulled up right where I was sitting, and handed me a twenty dollar bill. He said, “God bless you, Sister.” He wished me a good day, and drove away. Ladies and gentlemen, if you don’t think I was basking in those tender lights of Jesus’ love just then…

Same day, a little later, and I was waiting for the bus. I’d been waiting for quite awhile, and I do try to keep a sense of humor. “Oh, Lordy, I’m in fear of that blister, and I can’t walk very far…Oh, Lordy, please have mercy on this sister; send the bus or send a car…” I kind of rewrote a couple of lines from the Renegade song. (It’s an old rock song). Then I said, “Uncle Pete, please turn on the fan and give that bus a tail wind. Please send that bus now. In Jesus’ Name, I ask it. Please, and thank you, Lord.” I looked up, and the bus came around the corner just then. I couldn’t help but laugh…and I could almost swear I heard someone laughing far away, up above me…LOL

That secret path is the one on which all those little joys and treasures, and intimate moments with the Lord are to be found. I wouldn’t want to walk any other path on Earth…and I’m so grateful that He loves me enough share that path with me.

The Bridge From Death To Life

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to learn from our Lord, Jesus. It is in learning of, and from Him, that we begin to dwell, or abide in Him. Therein lies our power, our passion, our purpose, and our peace. The message tells us that teachers are to point the way to the Lord. Then we must accept Him, and learn of, and from Him.

“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24) As I think of this scripture in terms of salvation, I am reminded of my own salvation. As a young child, I attended church with my grandmother. Growing up, I spent a couple of summers at Bible Camp. As a teenager, I attended church alone; neither of my parents went to church. At the age of 14, I said the sinner’s prayer, and accepted the Lord as my Savior. But it wasn’t until I found myself alone with the Lord, at that well…(John 4:5)…that I really got saved. It was there that I realized I’d been drinking from the wrong well. (John 4:12) “Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?” I’d read that verse probably 100 times before. This time, it hit me like a ton of bricks. This is exactly what happens in generational curses.

That’s when things began to change in my life; because that’s when I began to change. I began to seek out the Lord and study His teachings. I began to really look closely at my life, at my habits, my hurts, my thoughts and attitudes, etc. Then, I began to learn from the Lord (The Word-made flesh). We truly do cross over from death to life, as we begin to change our attitudes, our thinking, our words, and our ways. It isn’t a simple process, it’s a lifelong process…but, really, it is a simple solution. When we die to all those old dead and deadly ways, we can rise to the right ways; to ways that honor, create, and sustain life.

And I will Give You Rest

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that our strength lies in quietness and trust. (Isaiah 30:15) Today’s message is the one that came into my daily prayer. “Thank you, Lord, for the peace to find strength within myself; and for the strength to seek your peace in my life.” All it takes is just a few minutes in God’s Presence and that peace comes flooding in.

I hope this song will bless you as much as it does me. Thank you, Paul Wilbur. What a beautiful job you did with this!

The Richest Girl In The World

…Is Daddy’s girl! Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to “lay up treasure in Heaven,” and to set our affections on those things. They are higher than anything we’ll ever find here. And, they are the ones that will endure forever.

My first treasure is my Jesus and my Heavenly Father! Then, there’s the privilege of communicating with them; the privilege of prayer. My children, grandchildren, family and friends are great treasures. I have some beautiful people in my life! There is the sun to warm me, the wind to cool me, the stars to count -because sheep can’t jump that high, the moon to dream over, the water to hydrate, wash, and entertain me. (I love to swim and fish) I know, I know-those are temporal things; but God sends them at exactly the right time, every time.

There are those few moments in the morning, as I’m saying my prayer…this warm hush comes over my spirit, and I can almost feel the Lord wrapping His arms around me. What a way to start the day! I could go on with this list, but it would never end. When I think about having to fight for every breath I took, and being able to breathe deeply now, I’m overcome with tears of gratitude. Healing and health are two great treasures. And, I’m not getting old; just older. See, already I’m winning that battle! LOL

I have the peace and joy of the Lord, within, and once everything gets down to a dull roar, round about me too. That’s the second most awesome thing to possess in this crazy world; the peace and joy of the Lord. Peace and joy in the Lord, all the time, is the most awesome! We walk by faith; and when you have that, you’ve got all you need.

It All Goes Together

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to dwell in God’s Presence.  We’re told to dig deep into the soil of the Kingdom.  This message ties in with the one for Saturday, August 8th, and with my post on Friday’s message.  All three go together.

Friday’s message speaks of getting to know God intimately to dispel fear and doubt within.  Saturday’s message – read it at twolisteners.org- bids us to empty ourselves to ensure constant fresh supply.  This is so important when we’re finding ourselves stressed, anxious, angry, anything that’s contrary to the Divine Nature within us.  Immediately emptying ourselves of all that negative emotion and replacing it with truth from the Word of God, and what we know of God’s love and grace toward us, is critical.  This is the way we remain in His Presence.

Do you know what Satan’s goal in the Garden of Eden was?  It was to separate Adam and Eve from the presence of God-and from the security there is in His presence.  That’s why we’re told to dig deep into the soil of the Kingdom…you’ll find treasure upon treasure, strength upon strength, glory upon glory, until your faith is unshakable!  You will think, feel, and act like the king or queen you are ordained to be.  *Remember what the King of kings said, though: “I have not come to be served, but to serve.”  And remember Solomon’s prayer for wisdom, so that he could rule over his people wisely and justly.

Hush, And You’ll Hear Him

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to just hush and trust the Lord.  He’ gets us through the storm; and then, when it’s quiet-and we’re quieted, He will teach us His Word and Way.

I’ve proven Him on this so many times.  I’ll get so worked up and upset; and then just one minute in prayer, and the storm’s gone.  “Help me, Jesus; I need to pray,” I’ll say.  And, when I’ve prayed, I’ll pick up my Bible, and there will be that beautiful little nugget that will stay with me from then on.   This is one of my favorite songs.  I hope you’ll be as blessed by it as I am.  These are some folks with the Gaither family.

Don’t Discount Your Power, or Value!

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us of the power of a praying soul, and of it’s value to the Kingdom of Heaven and the world around us.

We tend, all too often, to forget that the battle is in the Spirit.  We don’t give much thought to the powers and principalities, and host of spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places.  (Eph. 6:12)  There are some other scriptures that refer to these, and to what Jesus did for us in regard to them.  Look them up, and you’ll get a better picture.

When we get a clear picture of the Spiritual things, we get a clearer picture of where the battles really are fought.  We also get a clear picture of just how powerful prayer and praise and worship are.  The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, we’re told in 2 Cor. 10:4.  What we don’t often see, are those little prayer warriors, who sit in their rooms or homes praying for the world we live in.  Some pray in the wee hours of the morning, some at night.  We don’t see a thing, we don’t hear a thing, but in the Spirit, there’s the roar of a mighty army doing battle for us.

We often discount the value of the prayers, the behind the scenes work, the hugs, the little words of encouragement, etc.  When a crisis comes, we feel overwhelmed because we forget the power of these things.  They’re all seeds, did you know that?  Yeah, you did, didn’t you?  You just forgot for a moment.  I used to all the time.  They’re seeds sown into hearts, lives, souls, and into the Spirit.  Remember what Jesus said about sewing into the Kingdom of Heaven?  (Matt. 6:20)  Those seeds are spiritual treasure.  You know what else?  All those things are like war medals that decorate your uniform.  Oh, my!  Just look at you now!  So awesome, worth everything, everything, to the world around you, and to our Lord, and our Heavenly Father.  Go get ’em, honey!  ROAR!!

I want to take a moment to thank all who have prayed for me, all who have encouraged me, cried with me, and laughed with me…all who have walked with me.  You have helped to get me this far.  Thank you!

Preparing the Soil

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that the ground must be readied before God can drop seed blessings into it.  I’m reminded of the parable Jesus told about the sower and the seed, and the different kinds of soil.

Prayer and praise does much to prepare the soil, or one’s heart.  That’s true whether it’s our own heart or someone else’s we’re trying to open to the Lord.  Then, I think about Abraham, too.  And before him, Noah.  These two men believed, and walked in obedience to their calling.  How many know that whenever God tells you to do something, that’s a calling?  Steadfastness, diligence, and discipline in faith and obedience to whatever God calls us to do, even in our daily living, also prepare the soil for blessing.  That soil can be a heart, a place, an upcoming event, etc.

It all happens in the Spirit/spirit.  When I think about that, I think about Jericho.  How many times did God have them march around that city…before the final time, and that shout?  Soil preparation is kind of a wind up or warm up for the actual game, in some ways.  The blessings come in the form of readiness, growth, maturity, confidence, fitness, or ability, peace, and joy, or excitement.  If you can’t get excited over what God’s called you to do, you better make sure it was Him who called you.  God not only gives us the desires of our hearts, He gives us the heart to desire good things.  Anytime God calls you to do something, you know it’s got to be a good thing.  You can’t help but get excited about it.

Finally, I think about tilling and weeding, and plowing a garden.  That readies the soil for the seeds.  I remember finding all kinds of things as we worked the ground.  People have found arrowheads, awesomely shaped rocks, old coins, wonderful little treasures.  One of the greatest treasures you can find in preparing the soil, or your heart, for God’s blessing, is yourself.  You might discover some wonderful things you never knew were in you.

Here’s a great song for today’s post:  Again, Third Day is the group to thank for this awesome song.
