Oh, That Touch

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that our Lord is ever present with us. We are reminded that His touch brings, not only healing, but guidance, and comfort. It isn’t just healing, guidance, and comfort that that touch brings us. Sometimes, I feel that touch as I’m doing my Bible study. I always come away with a wonderful little nugget of truth that empowers my walk with Him. I hope you’ll read the message for yourselves at twolisteners.org

That little nugget of truth came through that touch recently. I was doing my study on generational curses, and was led to Genesis 2:15-17. I believe, since we are created in God’s image, after His likeness, we already have the knowledge of both good and evil within us. (Genesis 1:26-27) We just didn’t have the wisdom we needed in regard to good and evil. Remember God walked and talked with them in the cool of the day. So, it is possible that Satan thought he’d get a head-start on destruction.

One of the keys to overcoming generational curses is mastering the knowledge of good and evil. It is not the knowledge of good and evil that will kill you. It is eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil that will either kill you, or bring you life. Eating the fruit of the knowledge of good will destroy your fleshly, worldly, and evil tendencies. It will also destroy the fallout, or spiritual damage to you caused by the evil in the world around you. Likewise, eating the fruit of the knowledge of evil will destroy good in your life, and even the desire in you, to do good.

Example: You see someone homeless on the street. You’ve just purchased breakfast, and got a two for one deal. The fruit of the knowledge of good is your desire to offer this person the other breakfast. (compassion) You do (partaking of the fruit), and a little faith and hope comes alive in that person. (There’s somebody who does care) The other example: The scenario is the same. Only this time, you think about being able to sleep in, and having this extra breakfast tomorrow morning. You won’t have to stop for it on the way to work. (Self, Selfish) You do not offer it to that person, but go on your way (partaking of the fruit of evil) Not that thinking about yourself is evil, but when you see a person who’s homeless and obviously hungry, and you do have enough…isn’t ignoring that and walking away what Satan would do?

That little “touch” made me realize how much easier choosing is when we see exactly what it is being offered us.

Each Reveals The Other More

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that seeing Jesus, we see the Father. When we see the two, we truly do have all we need. There truly is nothing that we cannot accomplish, then.

As I’ve been studying about generational curses, I’ve been back and forth between the Old and the New testaments. Of course, we see a clear picture of Jesus in the Gospels. Jesus said, “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:7) But, do we make the connection between our Heavenly Father and Jesus when we read the Psalms and the Prophets? I discovered, much to my delight, so much more about Jesus, in them! In both Old and New Testaments, we get some awesome revelation of both the Father, and our Lord, Jesus. How wonderful that is, and how powerful, as we strive to grow in intimate knowledge of them both; and in faith!

The Kingdom Within First

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, addresses money values. It goes hand in hand with my post from September 10th. If you haven’t read that, I hope you will. This message builds further on that one.

The message speaks about seeking God’s Kingdom first, and securing our will, or setting our will, on that. Lining up our will with God’s is crucial. The next thing we’re told, to desire nothing less than that; and to desire nothing less than to advance His Kingdom. Matthew 6:33 “-Seek first the kingdom…”, and Matthew 6:22 are referenced.

Matthew 6:22 is the one I want to go to: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” This is the very reason we need to seek God’s Kingdom first. It is the very reason that we need to strive to advance that Kingdom within us-first and foremost. You see, we prosper as our soul prospers. When we do this, the fear, the greed, the lack of self-respect and dignity, and the insatiable need to fill the voids, are destroyed. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Cor. 10:5) See, the Father really does know what it is that you really need first. He loves us so! He loves us so!

That Reveals Their Divine Nature

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that our loved ones are not gone. They are just gone from here. We’re told that we do well to remember them. As I read the message I am reminded of the many Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and Easter too, in the kitchen with my mother, grandmother. There’s not one holiday that, when I’m in the kitchen, I don’t feel their presence with me. I hope you all will read the message for yourselves at twolisteners.org – it will really lift your spirit; especially if you’ve lost a loved one recently.

I’m going to quote directly from the message, this statement: “Learning to know Me draws that Kingdom very near, and in Me, and through Knowledge of Me, the dear ones there become very near and dear.” As I read this statement in terms of generational curses, I got a revelation about how God enables us to see the best in others. It is in Christ Jesus, and through knowledge of Him, that we are able to see the divine nature in those who, in and through their humanity, have wounded us. As we come to know the Lord more and more, we begin to gain some insight into the wounds and scars of those who have wounded us; and into their hearts. God helps us to see them as He sees us all. This is how He empowers us to let go of the worst in them, to forgive, and to hold on to the divine in them-the best in them. (Isaiah 43:25) In terms of generational curses, the sin here is two-fold. First, the sin they committed against us is sin. The results (fear, dejection, addiction(s), etc.), all the ways in which their sin binds us, cripples us, etc., is the second part of this. This second part is the part we need to remember no more. This is what the love of God frees us from, lifts us out of, and gives us treasures to take out with us-so that we can pass them on. We are blessed to be a blessing.

Finally, seeing the best in them, their divine nature, softens the scars and allows God to work His miracles of restoration to our generation, and hopefully, our children’s, and theirs.

See His Face Every Time You Look

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to stay as near to God as we can. This closeness, and intimacy is what keeps us from straying. That nearness builds our intimate knowledge of, and faith in our LORD/Lord.

Isaiah 49: 14-16 comes to mind when I read this message this morning. First, let me say, YOU are Zion-God’s chosen dwelling place forever. Think in terms of Spirit and Being. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. So, whenever you read something about Zion, listen closely-God’s talking about you.

Isaiah 49:16 says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” This is how we need to view our relationship with the LORD/Lord. Every time you look at your hands, see His Face! See His Hands, His Back, and the blood running from His Head. Then, see the glorious crown He wears now; it’s the one you as God’s child, are also crowned with. Don’t let anyone or anything, take that from your head-ever! The Foretaste of Divinity

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God’s standard is the only standard we are to strive to live by, and up to.

Isaiah 53 comes to mind when I read the message. It speaks of Jesus Christ, our Lord. He is the firstborn of many. That many includes you and I…because, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12-13) (ESV)

Isaiah 53:2 is a powerful revelation about how God can take you, from the dry ground of living under a generational curse, or under sin, and cause you to be the root of a new generation. A new generation under the love and admonition, and walking in the power and authority of Jesus Christ. Isn’t that awesome?! You can have a better life; your children, and their children…generations after them, can have better lives. Isaiah 53:11 is a confirmation of that: “Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.” (ESV) That means God can take all that turmoil and pain within you, and give you His knowledge. That will give you the power to help others to stand and walk uprightly (in power and authority). That’s what it means to “bear the iniquities” of others. We help them to overcome the adversities and barriers that keep them from living successfully.

Walking In Love Is A Twofold Thing

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to walk in God’s Love. We sometimes forget that this is a twofold thing, and that we must put first things first.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30&31) We all do our best to walk in love toward our fellow man. We pray for them, we give where and what we can, we try to lift others up, etc. But, we don’t often really think about exactly what that second greatest commandment says-about loving ourselves.

That’s step one in regard to this commandment. The most important part of loving yourself, is to love the LORD/Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. But, do you know that you are also to walk in His love toward you? We don’t really give that a lot of thought; because we’re usually busy trying to do good things, to do the right things, etc. That’s one of the reasons we get weary and suffer from burnout.

I couldn’t believe how much my life changed-for the better-when I made time every day, just to be with Jesus. Just to bask in His love for me wipes the whole world away from my spirit. It fills me with such strength, with peace, and with joy. There is a joy that nobody can take away from you. It’s the joy of knowing how very loved and cherished you are by God Himself. Yes, God Himself loves and cherishes us. One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 8. It tells us about God’s love for us. Sometimes, it still leaves me awestruck. I encourage you to make a little time each day, just to be with the Lord. Read about His love for us. Listen to the praise music that tells us of His love. Just bask in the knowledge, the peace and joy, of being a child of God Most High. Then, walk in that knowledge, staying mindful of it always as you go along. It makes the second part of that commandment so much easier! It also makes loving yourself, being good to yourself, and making better choices for yourself easier.
