A friend and I were discussing recent news headlines.  This included the Corona virus relief plan negotiations and Nancy Pelosi.   The lady definitely does play hardball, doesn’t she?  My friend-not a fan of Ms. Pelosi’s either, said, “Somebody needs to put that woman into a suitcase, and send her into outer space on the next rocket they launch.”

Being a Christian, I really don’t get too excited about politics.  I try to stay aware of what’s going on, but I trust the Lord.  God’s got it under control.  I believe that with all my heart.  Anyway, what came to mind was this image of all these little demons and devils and such, on all the planets out there, packing their belongings up and heading for the Black Hole in outer space… can’t you just hear them…-“OMG! They’re sending her out here!  Oh, HELL NO!!”   I laughed out loud; because the next thing I thought of was Hebrews 12:26, where God says, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”

What The World Needs Now…

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to love all, bringing joy wherever we can.  Romans 12:9 puts it this way:  Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.  Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

We’re told that we can’t fail to love someone, once we understand them.  We’re also told to look for Jesus in everyone.  When we do this, we are more apt to be reminded that everyone is created in His image and after His likeness.  This makes me think of the word, “Namaste.”  Literally, it means, “bowing to you.”

Something I learned some time ago, is that God loves because He is love.  That means it makes no difference whether or not I like you, or even whether or not I understand you.  It means I love you because I am called to love you.  We are called to be like our Master, Jesus, and our Heavenly Father.  “Be perfect, therefore, as your Father in Heaven is perfect.”  Perfect love casts out fear; which all too often is the wedge driven between us as humans.  Here, again, the key is understanding all of God’s ways with us, and growing in them.  God is love perfected.  We learn what we live, and we live what we learn.  So, let’s learn from the Master!

Rejoicing In Your Weaknesses

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.  (2Cor. 12:9)

There was a time when I believed that was some mystical event that happened; that by some miracle, God would infuse me with supernatural strength.  Over the years, I’ve learned just how much of a naturally occurring result of my accepting, or acknowledging that weakness-(truth), seeking the way to overcome it-(way), and rising up to walk in that way (life).  Are you getting a picture of how simple it really is?  Jesus said, “I am the truth, the life, and the way.”  He is that in every situation.

Acceptance is the key to the whole thing.  We all too often try to deny the weakness, or to fake our way through it.  Notice the two words, “our way.”  That’s what it is that gets us into trouble.  If it’s your weakness, it’s obviously not the way to go, is it?  Accepting the weakness empowers you to seek the way(s) to overcome it.  This opens the door for God to work, and opens your mind and heart to receive insight, inspiration, and instruction.  What went wrong, why, what’s your part in it, what can you do to fix it, or improve it, etc.  These insights inspire ideas and creative energies.  Then, the instruction(s) bring us up to the next level; to overcoming power, and to progress.

God is a creator, we are created in His image, after His likeness.  Therefore, we are creators, and creative beings.  We can resurrect, rebuild, restore, etc.  That’s the power of God being perfected in us, in our weaknesses.  This is why we are told to rejoice in our weakness; to see it as an incentive and an opportunity to rise to an even higher level.  We aren’t to walk in denial, deception, depression, and all the other stuff that comes on you when you’re trying to fake your way through.  Just be you; be the best you you can be.  Accept yourself just as you are, and work from there.  You can only work with what you’ve got; and, as they say, “God don’t make no junk!”  Celebrate every step forward, every step upward, every step taken.  God does; because He loves you!

It’s About The Beauty Of The Lord

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that everything we need can be found in our Lord, Jesus Christ.  That statement carries the most powerful revelation you’ll ever get in this life.  Ready?

God is love. (1John 4:16)  Jesus said, “when you see me, you’ve seen the Father.” (John 12:45, 14:9)  Thus, Jesus is LOVE, personified.  Everything love is, is Jesus. (1 Cor. 13:4-13, Gal. 5:22-23, Ephesians 5:8-10)

Psalm 27:4 – “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”  This Psalm is referenced by the message in the book.  All of the above scriptures tell me that love is my most crucial need.  It tells me that love is my most powerful weapon, tool, medicine, nourishment, shield, comforter, and inspiration.  It’s all I need, and the rest will follow.  (Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven, and all these shall be added unto you as well.) – Matt 6:33  And, all the other things of the Spirit, can, and will be found by you, in Christ Jesus, as well.

That’s the revelation.  Seek Him first.  Seek out everything about Him; all He is and all He has.  That’s what you are meant to be, were created to be, and what you have, and have had from the beginning.  It is rightfully yours as a child of God.  Take it, hold fast to it.  Don’t let go of it, no matter what.  Just like he did with Adam and Eve, Satan is trying to get you to turn loose of it.  They already were like God.  “Let us make man in our image (LOVE), and after our likeness (LOVE).” (Genesis 1:26)  Once you see, and experience the beauty of love, as it is meant to be, there is nothing more desirable.

Your Second Childhood Awaits You

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we must be born again to enter the kingdom of Heaven.  We are bid to become as little children.  Quoting directly from the message: “Seek in every way to become child-like. Seek, seek, seek until you find, until the years have added to your nature that of the trusting child.  Not only for its simple trust must you copy the child-spirit, but for its joy in life, it’s ready laughter, its lack of criticism, its desire to share all with all men.  Ask much that you may become as little children, friendly and loving towards all — not critical, not fearful.”

Remember when you were invincible?  I have a few scars to prove I was.  LOL  We’re told that faith is a child-like attitude.   What gets my attention in this message, is that statement that tells us to seek until the years had added to our nature, that of a trusting child.  Remember when you were afraid to raise your hand and give the answer?  Yeah, how embarrassing if you were to be wrong, right?  That’s an especially tough one in junior high school.  Doubt and distrust are very insidious.  They’re very sneaky, and have many faces.

I remember the day I said, “no more of this!”  I can’t tell you how many opportunities I had to slip back into doubt and distrust.  I lost count some time ago, how often the opportunity to get depressed over everything that’s gone, or is going wrong.  And, I’m proud to tell you that I started winning those little battles awhile back.  I had to remind myself daily that I was choosing peace, joy, and positive thought and attitude.  I have to laugh, because there were some times when I was positively dragging my feet or clenching my jaw and talking through gritted teeth…But, I’m doing it God’s way, even when I’m positive it’s going to kill me; just kill me.  Nope, it hasn’t yet.  Actually, that’s not entirely true.  You see, it does kill me.  Then, I’m reborn, and can enjoy the childlike trust, joy, peace, and power of a child of God.  Yes, I did say power.  “Created in His image, after His likeness…”  Go ahead; step into your second childhood.  It’ll be awesome!

If you’re not already, I want to encourage you to read the actual messages from God Calling, at twolisteners.org  for yourself.  You’ll get so much more out of these posts, and vice versa.
