Giving Comes From Him

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to give all we can, in every way we can. We are to imitate the greatest giver(s) of all time; Jesus, and our heavenly Father, who gave His own son for us.

Jeremiah is the prophet I’m currently reading for my study on generational curses. Chapter 30:18-22 speaks to me of what a great giver God is. It shows how mindful He is of us, our needs, our trials and tribulations. This is how we should think when we are presented with opportunities to give. After all, we are blessed in order that we might bless others as well. Jesus said, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

As you read these verses, we can see God’s heart is to lift up, to rebuild/restore dignity, joy, and peace, to prosper a soul, and to honor humanity, as it was designed by God. That leader spoken of is Jesus Christ, our Lord. “I can do all things through Christ Jesus, who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) When I think about that in light of everything we face in the world, and how much of a difference one kind word, even a smile, or a helping hand can make for someone…I am inclined to bow before the Lord first, at every opportunity, and ask Him just to do it through me.

I’m also so grateful for all those beautiful people who give in almost every step they take. You are an inspiration to me when I want to just give up and throw in the towel. Thank you, all!

Set If Before Your Face

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that it is the truth in God’s Word, received into our hearts and firmly stood on, that brings us out and up to victory. Jesus’ parable of the sower and the seed comes to mind. (Matt. 13:3-9)

This principle needs to be applied to every situation we’re dealing with. Dig into the Word of God, both new and old testaments, and write down those that apply to what you’re feeling. Put them on the bathroom mirror, tuck them into your bag, keep them in your desk drawer at work. God told the Israelites this in regard to the Law in Deuteronomy 6:8-9. Read them aloud until you feel your feet back on solid ground in your faith, instead of feeling like you’re being buffeted by the wind and waves under you. I assure you, this is the way to overcome that difficulty. It not only stirs you up and strengthens your spirit; it also puts the forces of evil on notice and reminds them who the real authority is!

Naturally, A Little Laughter…

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that nature is filled with healing power for us.

I don’t think I’ve posted this story before; although I’ve told it at least a hundred times. When I lived “out in the country,” I had a beautiful little Border Collie. Emma was her name. She actually was the kids’ dog, but she and I were kind of like Thelma and Louise. She was beyond spoiled.

One day, I had two five gallon jugs of water in my car when I came home. I opened the back door of the car, took the two jugs out, and headed for the house. I’d left the back door of the car open; I guess I just wasn’t thinking. Anyway, I set the two jugs down on the porch so I could unlock and open the front door.

I no sooner opened the door, and Emma rushed past me. She ran right to the car, and jumped into the back seat. I took the jugs into the house and headed back out to the car. Try as I may, I got nowhere with her. Emma refused to get out of the car. She was bound and determined to go for a ride. Finally, I shut the car door, and got in the driver’s seat. I started the car, backed out of the driveway, and pulled right back in. (I didn’t have the gas to drive around; I needed it to get to work) I shut off the motor, got out, and opened the back door for Emma…who promptly got out of the car, tail as high as she could hold it and wagging triumphantly, and -I swear-this hilarious self satisfied smile on her face. I almost doubled over laughing!

See His Face Every Time You Look

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to stay as near to God as we can.  This closeness, and intimacy is what keeps us from straying.  That nearness builds our intimate knowledge of, and faith in our LORD/Lord.

Isaiah 49: 14-16 comes to mind when I read this message this morning.  First, let me say, YOU are Zion-God’s chosen dwelling place forever.  Think in terms of Spirit and Being.  You are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  So, whenever you read something about Zion, listen closely-God’s talking about you.

Isaiah 49:16 says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.”  This is how we need to view our relationship with the LORD/Lord.  Every time you look at your hands, see His Face!  See His Hands, His Back, and the blood running from His Head.  Then, see the glorious crown He wears now; it’s the one you as God’s child, are also crowned with.  Don’t let anyone or anything, take that from your head-ever!  Order your heart, mind, soul, your world by it, and reign.  Please read the message at twolisteners.org for yourselves-it’s a powerful one.

Saturday Silly – August 8, 2020

eden08122015

It’s been an interesting week news-wise, hasn’t it?  I read the other day that the NY State Attorney General is suing the NRA.  Yeah, she’s seeking its closure.  I was discussing this with a friend yesterday.  I told her I am definitely for the right to bear arms; and I’m sure glad our right to bear arms is guaranteed us by the second amendment in the Constitution.  One look at her face told me she was pretty serious about it too.  She said, “Oh, my God!  I didn’t know they had to get the government involved in that!  I’m so glad, too, though.  I’d die in this heat if I couldn’t wear tank tops!”   Yeah, she was serious about it, alright.  Now, where did I put that tank top?

Seeing Your Perfection

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we have but to look to Jesus to see our perfection.  He is strength when we are weak, peace when all is chaos within, compassion in the face of adversity, or hatred, love in the midst of indifference, etc.

“My strength is made perfect in your weakness…”  Take this to mean that His Presence, His Promise, and His Power will all be strong in your weakness.  They will shine through it to bring you the victory, the peace, the love, the power to forgive.  Whatever your need is, Jesus’ teachings, God’s Word, and the Presence of the Holy Spirit can meet it, and exceed the need.  The weakness will be weakened and/or eradicated, and you will rise to the occasion, and to the next level.

We have but to trust, and to step out in faith.  We are bid, even to look away from sordid surroundings, from poverty, etc., and to focus on Jesus.  Focus on His beauty, His love, and His love for, and in, you.  That infuses us with the right spirit; the Holy Spirit, the “yes, I can,” attitude, or spirit.  As we remain focused on our Lord, we can begin to see possibility in our surroundings, circumstances, etc.  The rest is history if we step out in faith.

I chose “Remind me who I am,” by Jason Grey, to go with today’s post.  I hope it blesses you as it does me.

Nothing…I Know Nothing

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are little children in the Kingdom of Heaven.  I had an experience during praise and worship one afternoon, in which I saw myself as a toddler being scooped up by the Lord, and held in His arms.  His face was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.  No features, just pure radiance, pure love.  I’m getting chills as I write this.

The message bids us to cling to Him, as a child clings to his/her parent.  We’re asked the question that, if we would hardly fail that child, how then, could our Heavenly Father fail us?  We’re bid to trust, to know that God’s love for us is as strong as ever.  Know that there is nothing He cannot accomplish, in us, for us, through us.  Nothing!

1Kings 3:7 is referenced by the message: “Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.”  Do you know that it’s alright to tell God you don’t know what you’re doing?  I have to laugh as I write this, because there are so many times I finally said that to God…and I swear I almost heard Him laughing.  “It’s about time,” He probably was saying.  “Now I can help you.”  The one thing I’ve learned over the years is that the longer I know God, the more I know that I know nothing.  It’s just best to get His take on it all first anyway.  I’m so thankful for His patience and grace.

What You Need For It Is There

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God gives us everything we need for every task He assigns to us.  We are bid to “face each difficulty sure that the wisdom and strength will be given you for it.  Claim it.”

Wisdom is found all through the scriptures.  Two of my favorite books are the Psalms and Proverbs.  But, if you read carefully, you can learn tremendously awesome things from every book in the Bible.  And, it is like that field the man found a pearl in; filled with all kinds of treasure.  It’s truly worth every minute you set aside, so you can spend time digging up all the good things in that field.

Psalm 90:12 is referenced by the message: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”  Numbering our days is good stewardship.  It has to do with scheduling; budgeting our time so that we have time to spend with the Lord.

Feeling His Healing Touch

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to wait quietly before the Lord, until we feel that healing power of His touch flowing into, and through us.  The only way I can describe that feeling is that it’s as if your entire being is vibrating and glowing with a wholeness and joy that’s unimaginable.  It’s almost unbelievable; this feeling.

I learned, some years ago, not to wait until things are overwhelming, or I am at the very end of my rope, with the knot coming undone.  Rather, first thing daily, I seek the Lord’s face.  I sometimes don’t get to my daily prayer until later, because I’m wrapped up in that time with the Lord.  I also learned to turn into that place and wait there the very minute I feel as if the boat’s swamped.

When I read the message, I thought about the woman with the issue of blood.  She only touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, and was healed.  She touched the Lord.  I believe that His Presence there strengthened, not only her resolve, but her efforts to be healed.  Have you ever needed peace in the midst of a tumult?  And the minute you turn toward the Lord, seeking His Presence, you feel strength come to you.  Now, you’re determination to get through is strengthened.  Now, you can almost see the sharpness of the Word, as you open your Bible.  Now, your voice is strong and clear as you speak to your mountain.  John 17:26 – “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”  No wonder that strength is there almost immediately…actually, it’s there all the time.  We just forget, or lose our connection to it.

I chose this wonderful old song by Tata Vega to go with today’s post.  It still fills me with such joy!

Turning To Him Empowers It All…

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we must turn to God, or seek Him, before we can become aware of His Presence with us.  Jesus said, “seek first, therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven”…and everything else will be added unto you.  I don’t believe He was speaking just of material needs.

Whatever situation we may find ourselves in, when we first seek God’s face, God’s will, His grace and purpose, maybe even His mercy, in it, we will find the key that unlocks the whole thing for us.  I knew a man who lost his legs in an auto accident.  He was very bitter for some time.  He’d lost his whole life, as far as he was concerned.  A friend of his talked him into attending church with him once, and the man’s life began to change.  The next thing you know, the man was on the slopes, skiing.  He never skied when he had legs.  He competes regularly in quad competitions of all kinds.  He’s made new friends, discovered new interests and talents he never knew he had.  He’s got a whole new life, and it’s even better than before.

One of the reasons the Lord’s prayer says, “give us this day our daily bread, is that we need that reminder to look for God in every day, all throughout the day.  Jesus is the bread come down from Heaven.  Bread is food.  Jesus feeds our spirit all day long when we let Him.  We have a continual feast when God’s in the “pantry” of our soul.  Seeking God in it, is seeking the good in it, or bringing the good into it.  We are, after all, His hands in the earth.  When we do this, every part of our lives is empowered to bring glory to us, to others, and especially, to God.
