Put Some Meat On Your Bones

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that spiritual strength and power comes to us through doing God’s Will. We are bid to make it our daily goal. It’s one of the reasons I do this blog. I have seen major changes in the way I deal with just daily living, just by doing this blog. My knowledge of, and relationship with the Lord have grown. Some of the things I’ve come away from and come away with surprise me-pleasantly, of course.

I hear people talk about wanting to “know God’s Will for them.” The best way to do that is to pray and ask Him what it is. Then, pay attention; because the Holy Spirit always leads, guides, and prompts us. Another thing that can be helpful is to look at the things that you’re passionate about, the things that you love to do, and the things that really interest you. God puts those things in us; and He does that for a reason. Something that helped me early on was to read about God’s heart for us, and to read what Jesus had to say about His purpose for being here on Earth. He also gave us the order to preach the Gospel, and said, “it’s enough for a servant to be like his Master.” He came to destroy the works of the devil, and to help us to have life more abundantly-real life. Something to remember is that ministry is so much more than those big revivals and miracle crusades, etc. Ministry can be something as simple as taking someone a meal, giving someone a ride, speaking an encouraging word to someone. When we put it in proper perspective, ministry the way God sees it, is living a life of love and caring for one another.

Glory In Everything & Every Way

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that the glory of the Lord is the beauty of His Character. It is this, reflected to our surroundings, that gives everything a dazzling beauty. It brings glory to everything, in every way.

Some time ago, the Lord put into my heart to share my experiences and thoughts from this little devotional (God Calling) in a blog. With that, He led me to a scripture. (Matthew 10:8) “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” That’s why I have this blog; that’s why I post to it daily-and will, until He says it’s a wrap. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this blog has helped my growth as a Child of God! I can’t believe the difference between where I used to be in my faith, and where I am now. I still have some struggles, but all in all, I’m more and more into the Lord, and striving to be more and more like the Lord, than I am like the world.

There was another time, as I found myself in that spiritual desert, that He led me to this scripture: “I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.” The closer I got to Him, the more flowed in, and through me. I began to write poetry, songs, stories…I got my creative spirit back, and began to design and to create recipes…I gloried more and more in everything I found to do, and in every way imaginable. My little conversations with some of the birds around town bring me such joy! They are just one way in which the beauty, love, and joy of the Lord are revealed to me. It’s a joy to wake up each day-even now, on the sidewalk. I hope this song will lift you and keep you soaring all day long. Thank you, Steven Curtis Chapman.

You Are Not Unemployed

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that there are no idle hours in the Kingdom of Heaven. There is no such thing as unemployment with God. If there is no work to be had, there is still work to do, the message tells us. First, then, we can work within ourselves, to conquer any evil, and to realign ourselves with God’s Will and Word. We can then become conquering forces in our homes, our communities, our workplaces, our world.

When I read this message, I thought about this Spring and Summer. The COVID-19 thing hit, everything shut down, and then the weather got much too hot for me to be very mobile in. I pretty much was stuck, spending much too much time just sitting on the sidewalk and trying to survive. I decided I would do a Bible study each morning. God began leading my Bible study, taking me through the Psalms and the Prophets. Oh, my! What wonderful revelations I got about the depth of God’s love; the intensity of His love for us, and His desire to see us overcome this world. As soon as the libraries opened up again, I resumed my daily blog posts. Recently, all those study notes began coming together into a book about generational curses. You see, there is no sitting still in the Spirit. LOL Don’t ever allow yourself to feel like you’re idling in your walk with the Lord. He can always work something good in you!

Loving Him More Builds Faith

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God is in every experience we have in life. His love is always there for us. Each experience, be it a good one, or one that makes you feel like the world’s coming apart at the seams, brings forth another particular aspect of God’s character. It also illuminates that character in us. Sadly, I must admit that it sometimes does not shine nearly as bright in me. Thankfully, God is loving, merciful, and patient. He always picks me up and dusts me off…and sets me on my feet again. “Keep going,” I can hear Him whisper.

As we love Him more, we seek Him more, and our faith in Him grows. As our faith in Him grows, we can’t help but love and seek Him more and more. What a wonderful Savior! I said this year’s blog would be more about walking it out. If there is one thing that draws me nearer to God every time and any time, it is praise and worship. Even one little line of a praise song can bring Him on the scene. LOL I’ve found this one from Elevation Worship. I hope it will bless you.

Husband to surgeon:  “Well, doc, tell us the truth; there’s no heart in there is there?  Wife to husband:  “Knock it off, Aaron!”                                                                                             Surgeon to husband:  “I’m sorry, Sir, but there’s definitely a heart in there…and it says, “I love you forever, Enrique`!”  Ha ha!

One Day at a Time

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that it doesn’t matter who you were yesterday, or what you did, or what someone else did to you, for that matter.  What matters today, is that Jesus loves you just at you are-even now.  What matters is that you have another opportunity, another day to win the race.  And, in case you didn’t know it, or didn’t read me before…Every day you wake up is another day you’ve won, Honey!  The battle, the storm, all of it is just a distraction.  Don’t let anything distract you.  That’s why we’re told to look straight ahead, and not to the left or the right.  Just keep right on walking with Jesus.

Psalm 25:5 is referenced in the message: “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (NIV)

Sunday Come to Jesus Call

eden08122015

I don’t know who I’m talking to today…Maybe you’ve been to church as a guest today, for the first time.  Maybe today’s the day you need to take that last step and give your heart to Jesus.  There’s never been a better time than today; like, right now.

Patience, Indeed, It’s Divine

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we must be as disciplined about developing and practicing patience as we are about everything else.

We’re told that we must also be patient with ourselves.  Sometimes that’s a hard thing, isn’t it?  I often got frustrated with myself if it didn’t go right, or I wasn’t getting it done as quickly as I wanted to.  I have learned patience.  I have to admit that it felt so very strange to just put it up and walk away for a minute or the rest of the day, and feel perfectly o.k. about it.

I’ve also gotten quite a bit better at not setting myself up to be frustrated.  By that I mean that if I know the line’s going to be a long one, I will make a point of arriving later so I won’t have to wait so long.  I think that’s part of cultivating patience; good planning to accommodate that Murphy’s Law thing.

It certainly does help to kind of take an inventory of the things that frustrate you, and make some little tweaks to routine and such, in order to be less frustrated.  Patience is empowered by foresight, I think.  As for those unforeseen events…the person in front of you who is walking very slowly because he/she is disabled, the new checkout clerk who’s still learning, even the surly guy in the breakfast line with the bad attitude…well, that’s when you have to step back and let your Jesus out.  He’s the compassionate one at 7:30 a.m. when I’m still waiting for my coffee.  Thankfully, He’s usually right on time with the mercy and grace in those situations.

When we put all these things together, it’s easier to cultivate and manifest patience in our daily lives.  It’s well worth the effort, and oh, some of the best laughs I’ve had came from being patient in a situation.

Love Squelches Sin & Ousts It

eden08122015

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have three pages plus worth of documentation of hacks into my WordPress account and password changes having been made, over just the last couple of months.  I’m having to change my passwords daily, and sometimes twice or three times daily.  The cowardly terrorists apparently have nothing better to do with their time or mine-or God’s, for that matter.  And, this all at the local public libraries, and, I suspect with their help and facilitation.  Today’s message fits perfectly here.

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that Love is the only real conquering force.  “Love is the power that can transform the world,” the message tells us.  “Eject sin with love,” is the title of the message in the book.

As I think about these two statements, I think about yesterday’s post about stepping out under that banner of love, and deliberately choosing to know the Lord more and more, until it is what we become.  When I read 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter, I think not only of patience, kindness, etc.  I think also of discipline, chastisement, admonition, reproof, and education.  All these are what Jesus came to do for us.  God, who is a good Father, teaches us, chastises us when we need it, admonishes us with His wisdom and reproof, and not only disciplines us in love, but also brings us up to have a heart of discipline.  By that I mean that He empowers us to become disciplined about our faith, our growth, our progress, our power and authority.  I’ve spoken before about the importance of being disciplined to stick with it all, and to adhering to routine, etc.

Being disciplined about love means that I need allow God’s love for me and for others, and my love for God and for others, to help me measure and assess the situation I’m faced with, and to act accordingly, guided by God’s Word.  Then, the sin within will be dealt with.  That, in turn, empowers us to bring real change, positive change.

Until It Becomes You

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are created in God’s image and after His likeness.  The more we spend time getting to know Jesus, the more we will understand, not only His divinity and authority, but our own as well.

Exodus 33:20 – God told Moses, “you cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.”  Reference is made to this scripture in today’s message.  Quoting directly, “True it is today as it was in the days of Moses that no man can see My face and live.  The self, the original Man, shrivels up and dies, and upon the soul becomes stamped My image.”  In essence, this is a personal resurrection and rapture.  We become translated into the Kingdom of Heaven, in heart, mind, and soul.  When all three are aligned with the authority and divinity of Christ Jesus, that is ours by right through Him, the divinity becomes us; we can step into that divinity and authority.  We do have the mind of Christ.  We have His heart of compassion and grace.  and we are free from all earthly bonds.
