Can’t Help But Tremble

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 114. It’s a short one, but a great reminder of God’s power, love, and sovereignty.

When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language, Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion. The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back? O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.” (ESV)

As I’m writing this, I’m thinking of my morning coffee in the park today. Some of the birds were following one another around and squawking, holding their beaks open, and wanting to be fed by the other. At first, I kind of laughed, and said, “Mama says you’re old enough to feed yourself now.” But then, I remembered those times when my husband would feed me a bite of his meal, or vice versa. Feeding one another is a sign of affection between couples, and family members. The impact of that truth, that family relationships are also that emotional and tender, even among birds, caused that sort of trembling within me. The presence of God, of His character, His traits, is in every living thing. I think we all too often miss those awesome moments of the revelation of God in the world around us because we don’t prepare our hearts to see Him there. I know that every time He reveals Himself to me this way, I cannot help but tremble.

Saturday Silly April 17, 2021

Today is the first day of International Wildlife Week. It’s actually almost a month-long event, running through May 15th. Those of you who know me, know that I love birds. In honor of them…I thought I’d share this video with you.

Saturday Silly-November 28, 2020

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I wasn’t able to post a Saturday Silly before the holiday…and now I know why. Actually, I figured that out while I was waiting for the bus Thursday morning. You all know how much I love those little mocking birds, right? Well, as I stood waiting for the bus, one of them started chirping at me. I said, “Good morning, how are you?” The little bird chirped back cheerfully. I said, “Are you ready for this Thanksgiving day, Birdie?” OMG! That little bird started chirping up a racket and carrying on. He puffed up his feathers, and then did his best dolphin imitation. LOL I couldn’t help but laugh. I said, “I don’t know what you’re worried about, you don’t even look like a turkey!” Yeah, it’s a little cheesy- – but just in case some of ya’ll missed the cheeseball, now you can say you’ve had your cheese. LOL

Expecting Good In Everything

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to cultivate an attitude of expecting something good to happen, instead of something bad.  This is the difference between hope and fear.  We hope for good, we dread the bad that might happen, or could happen.  “Waiting for the other shoe to drop”, is how the world sees it.

This falls in line with not imputing wickedness to others.  Rather, we look for the good in them; in their intentions.  As we cultivate this attitude of righteousness (people/intentions) and good (blessings and joys), we grow in peace and peacefulness in dealing with others.  One of the best tools for developing this expectancy of good rather than evil, is simple thankfulness.  Then, purposefully seeing the good in what’s already there (morning coffee, birds singing, roof over your head, etc.), teaches us to seek something good, and something good to do, in all things we deal with and do.

Just My Jesus Showin’…

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that all those miracles are just natural happenings in the spiritual realm.  It’s not a big thing; it’s just my Jesus showing.  LOL  If you operate in just your five senses, or in your flesh, they’ll seem out of the ordinary, or supernatural occurrences, though.  That’s why we have to lose ourselves; step into that sixth sense-the spirit. See, that’s why I don’t think it strange at all when birds talk to me.  And I almost never fall out of my chair anymore, when Jesus does it-I mean, does what I ask. He does catch me off guard every once in awhile…I’m sure He just laughs and laughs whenever He gets me, too; especially after all these years. “I love you, Lord,” she says with a big smile on her face.
The spiritual force behind those natural happenings is cultivated and grown over many hours, days, months, years of time spent with the Lord-walking as a child of God. That force is grown, groomed, fine-tuned, and perfected through many encounters, stumbles, slips, falls, lessons learned-some, hard ones, and a lot of prayers and worship time. The culmination of all of that is great “spiritual Power, operating marvelously,” and more and more perfected.
I want to remind you that I have published my Bible study on Establishing Your Daughter’s House.  I’m working on a new Bible study on Your Glory. Becoming a published author has been an uphill battle, mostly because someone’s been bound and determined to kick my feet out from under me.  But, I hope to have at least a few more books to offer within the next couple of months.  That’s what I’ve been working on, in case anyone is wondering. I’ve posted the link to Establishing Your Daughter’s House below.  I hope it inspires you as much as it did me, when I did the study.

Take Time For The Little Things

eden08122015

Praise God with me; the doctor found no disease in my arteries-which is awesome considering my diet at times, and the fact that I was a chain smoker for so many years.  Thank you, Father, for your unfathomable mercy and grace toward me!

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we rush, rush, rush, far too much.  We’re bid to “delay action in the little things until we get God’s guidance.”  We always run to Him when the waves are about to overwhelm us, but we really don’t even think much about Him in the little things of daily living.  It is those little things in our daily lives that empower abundant living, or living abundantly in love, peace, joy, laughter, power.

There are mornings when I have to ask Jesus to help me get up.  Then, there are mornings when the chirping of the birds wakes me, and I think God’s alarm clock really rocks!  Such a little thing, a bird, but so much joy they give me.  Have you ever looked closely at your table when there’s a little vase of flowers on it, or maybe just one budding rose?  It takes a minute or two more to set the table with flowers, candles, and the good dishes, but isn’t it worth it?  Aren’t you worth it?  C’mon, you know you are!  I learned the connection between these “little things” and the increases in peace, joy, love, laughter, powerful living.

I have to address those little nuisances and little glitches, etc., that pop up through the day.  I often have to remind myself I’m bigger than that person’s bad attitude or crabby mood.  -Well, not so much anymore as I used to’ I’m getting better.  My washer broke down once.  Not really a big thing, considering things like catastrophic illnesses, fatal accidents, and the like.  I had to take time out to get to the laundromat once a week for a couple of months.  It turned out to be an opportunity for me to spend a little extra time with my kids, and we had some great fun playing the one of the games at there.   When we stop and look to God for guidance in those moments, we’ll often find that mountain is really just a little ol’ molehill, after all.  And God always blesses us in awesome little ways, just for seeking Him.

Saturday Silly – April 27, 2019

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, is about feeling the presence of the Lord with us.  I was sitting in the park this morning, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.  I had one of those mockingbird encounters.  I’m pretty sure that was Jesus’ way of saying good morning to me.

He (the bird; not Jesus) started out just chattering at me.  Then there was, “Good morning.”  I was just about to eat a croissant when he chirped something like, “ready?”  I laughed at him and asked, “are you hungry?”  He didn’t answer, but he did come down out of the tree.  Then, he made the rounds under all the empty picnic tables.  There was a man sitting at one table, with his head resting on his arms.  The little mockingbird went back up into his tree, which was just beside that table.  Then I heard what sounded like an alarm going off.  It was the bird.  I said, “are you an alarm clock?”  I laughed when the little man sat up and was looking around.  The next sound that little mockingbird made was like a truck backing up…”beep, beep, beep,” he twittered.  It made my day, but I thought, if I see that little bird moon-walking on that tree limb right now…”  See there, Jesus is a very entertaining Lord.  I could almost hear Him up there giggling at us.  And, I’m sure grateful that He’s the ringmaster in this circus called life.
