They Become Simply Marvelous

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that stepping into, and walking in our authority and power, our divine nature, happens neither instantaneously, nor is it a one shot deal.  It’s a daily thing; a one-step-at-a-time thing.  I hope you’ll read the entire message yourselves at twolistners.org – it’s a goodie!

When I think back on all the things I used to really struggle with, and things that would just almost shatter my heart, I think about the way God brought me through them.  I thought about how God teaches me out of His Word.  And, yes, He does have a sense of humor-as you saw in yesterday’s post.

As we learn to walk fully in God’s love, His admonition, according to His will, and His Word, those things that seem like miraculous happenings – (you know, when you finally get it right, and it works easy as pie, and blows you away?) – become more and more natural, and naturally, expected. ..and marvelous; simply marvelous!

Hush, And You’ll Hear Him

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to just hush and trust the Lord.  He’ gets us through the storm; and then, when it’s quiet-and we’re quieted, He will teach us His Word and Way.

I’ve proven Him on this so many times.  I’ll get so worked up and upset; and then just one minute in prayer, and the storm’s gone.  “Help me, Jesus; I need to pray,” I’ll say.  And, when I’ve prayed, I’ll pick up my Bible, and there will be that beautiful little nugget that will stay with me from then on.   This is one of my favorite songs.  I hope you’ll be as blessed by it as I am.  These are some folks with the Gaither family.

It Might Just Be For Your Tomorrow

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell reminds us that we are athletes in training.  We are not running a short sprint race.  We are running a much greater, and longer race than that.

We are supposed to reach the whole world, you see.  That means we have a long way to go, don’t we?  It’s a lifelong race, and sometimes grueling and painful.  I learned something looking back over my life one day.  So many things I had gone through prepared me for so many people and places I would find myself dealing with and working in, in the future.  This is what God means when He says He’ll give us treasures in darkness, and rivers in dry places.

In looking back, I also discovered something else. Those wonderful play-times with  my grandmother, the games and puzzles, and all those other things I loved so much, and was encouraged in, were things that played a part in my calling(s).  As I’m studying out how God deals with us, how He draws us, calls us, and prepares us, I see why God puts all those little interests, gifts, and talents within us.  Theses are the things He uses to draw us to the paths we are to walk in life.  That’s why it’s important to foster creativity in our children, and to help them develop their interests and talents.

Know That It’s All Yours & Thank Him

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God’s children are, indeed, very rich.  We’re bid never to think or say we can’t afford it.  Always, instead, focus on God’s faithfulness to us.

When we say we can’t afford it, we’re actually cutting off supply.  We really do need to get those negative words out of our vocabularies!  But, what if we say, “I will need to save up for that.  Maybe I can change some things in the budget.  Maybe I can take on a little extra work.”  That’s possibility thinking, or hope.  Then, we follow through; putting our faith into action, and trusting God to bring it all to pass.  The heart of man plans his course, but the LORD establishes his steps. (Prov. 16:9) (ESV)  Notice that you must plan in order for God to work it out.

Something I’ve found to be helpful in trusting God for supply, is to affirm to myself daily that in Christ Jesus, it truly is all mine.  The second thing is to just thank God daily for it.  Healing in my body,  heart, mind, and soul includes adequate nourishment-and folks, I FEAST!  I really do.  It never fails that some of my favorite things, and good for me things are marked down when I get to the store.  Sometimes, I’ve even had a craving for something in particular, and sure enough; someone drives up and hands it to me.  God’s awesome!  As long as I have wholeness/soundness in my body, heart, mind, and soul, I know I’ve got what I need.  The rest manifests as God chooses to give it; and He does know best.  He has perfect timing, too.

Are You Surprised Yet?

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are to do everything as if unto the Lord.  Keeping that in mind, would I grumble, complain, pout, etc., about having to do something for Jesus?  Yes, I do have to say ashamedly, there have been some times when I did just that.  One time, I even really cursed Him out.  That’s why I thank God each and every day for His mercy and grace toward me.

The message bids us to bow to God’s will and wishes gladly, and not in resignation.  Rather, bow, with the knowledge that this thing is going to end up so awesomely for you.  The Bible tells us that all the promises of God are yes and amen.  That tells me that God has something good for me at the end of this.  And, God, Himself, has promised us that He has plans to prosper us, and not to harm us.  So we can expect “glad surprises”, to quote the message directly.  How could you not smile about that?!

As I read the message, I think about daily prayers, chores, workloads, extra tasks when things go wrong, etc.  Do you know, it takes just as much effort to do it joyfully as it does to do it grumbling and begrudgingly.  Personally, I believe it takes more effort to do it grumbling and begrudgingly.  I have found, over the years, that joyfulness and positive energy, somehow lighten the loads, and speed up the doing.  Things get done much more quickly, and the whole atmosphere is beautiful.  When we put these principles into practice in our daily living, our growth in them, spiritually, is awesome.  That’s what God wants for us; abundant life here, and abundant power in the spirit-because the two go hand in hand.

Releasing The Divinity Within You

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that to strive to improve attitude, calmness and serenity, courage, and love within, is to release the divinity within.

We are bid to seek out imperfections within, even the smallest ones, and to work at overcoming them.  It is when these things are righted, that we rise to the next level.  As we do this, miracles cannot help but happen, for they are naturally occurring according to the power released within us.  The saying, “if you want to change the world, change your mind,” is a very powerful revelation of the kind of power God has put within us.  The next step, then, is to reach out from that higher level.  Naturally, there will be,now, more power to create positive effects in the world around us.

I chose Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” to go with today’s post.  I hope it blesses your day.

Rejoicing In Your Weaknesses

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.  (2Cor. 12:9)

There was a time when I believed that was some mystical event that happened; that by some miracle, God would infuse me with supernatural strength.  Over the years, I’ve learned just how much of a naturally occurring result of my accepting, or acknowledging that weakness-(truth), seeking the way to overcome it-(way), and rising up to walk in that way (life).  Are you getting a picture of how simple it really is?  Jesus said, “I am the truth, the life, and the way.”  He is that in every situation.

Acceptance is the key to the whole thing.  We all too often try to deny the weakness, or to fake our way through it.  Notice the two words, “our way.”  That’s what it is that gets us into trouble.  If it’s your weakness, it’s obviously not the way to go, is it?  Accepting the weakness empowers you to seek the way(s) to overcome it.  This opens the door for God to work, and opens your mind and heart to receive insight, inspiration, and instruction.  What went wrong, why, what’s your part in it, what can you do to fix it, or improve it, etc.  These insights inspire ideas and creative energies.  Then, the instruction(s) bring us up to the next level; to overcoming power, and to progress.

God is a creator, we are created in His image, after His likeness.  Therefore, we are creators, and creative beings.  We can resurrect, rebuild, restore, etc.  That’s the power of God being perfected in us, in our weaknesses.  This is why we are told to rejoice in our weakness; to see it as an incentive and an opportunity to rise to an even higher level.  We aren’t to walk in denial, deception, depression, and all the other stuff that comes on you when you’re trying to fake your way through.  Just be you; be the best you you can be.  Accept yourself just as you are, and work from there.  You can only work with what you’ve got; and, as they say, “God don’t make no junk!”  Celebrate every step forward, every step upward, every step taken.  God does; because He loves you!

Blessed Assurance Is That Peace

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are to seek peace; to pursue it.  We are told that blessed assurance, that calm, knowing that God is God, is what brings about true success.  Only when we attain this calm, can true work be done, and body, mind, and soul be strengthened to achieve the victory.

Isaiah 32:17 tells us that “The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” (NKJV)  This tells me that my work, as a child of God, is to seek peace in everything.  It is to bring peace to all situations; inner peace and peace round about.  This peace-making, bringing, and keeping, is righteousness.  (Matt. 5:9) -“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”  This assurance is the result of a deep trust and certainty in God’s love, His promises, and His Word.  This is that calm, the peace, that we need to fight for.  This is the peace we must protect, at all costs.  By that, I mean, sometimes you need to walk away from things, or even people, if they are destroying peace in your home, your life, your heart.  I don’t mean just one or two events.  I’m talking about someone who chooses this havoc wreaking as a way of life.  That’s a coat you need to take off so you don’t drown in the pool kind of thing.

When we strive to bring about peace within, we are better equipped to establish and maintain peace in our surroundings, our relationships, our daily living.  That’s why the commandment says, love your neighbor as yourself.  It’s you first, then your neighbor and all else follows…often without struggle.

Start Where You Dwell

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to dwell in the secret place of God’s Shadow, or Spirit.  I’ve written before, about entering into that place through praise and worship.  I’ve written about making time to spend time alone with God.  The message bids us to make that dwelling place our home; and not to merely visit there fitfully, when it all gets to be too much for us.  “Dwell there,” we’re told.

Some years ago, I made the connection between the dwelling place of God’s Presence, and my own dwelling place.  There’s a place in the book (God Calling), that talks about homemaking in the spirit.  Jesus said, “the kingdom of Heaven is upon, or within you.”  That means God’s there.  So, how do we translate that into daily living?  We do that by homemaking for our spirit, and our soul…This message ties in well with the one about cultivating ourselves.

Part of cultivating ourselves, is tapping into our creativity, embracing our loves, likes, passions, and joys.  It involves managing our dislikes, and eliminating all sources of discord.  This works at home, at work, at church, in personal schedules, etc.  However, we’re talking about home.  When I think about that, I remember when I had to settle for freebies, bargain basement, mismatched, eclectic stuff.  Not that I wasn’t grateful; but, oh, the difference in emotional ease and joyousness of spirit, mind, and soul, when you get to purposefully pick and choose.  You get to choose; you’re the designer.  You are the creator of your sacred space.  This is the place where your body, mind, heart, spirit, and soul dwell.  Do you know there’s a difference between a dwelling and a residence?

To dwell suggests being connected, being a life-force in that place.  It suggests a warmth, and a joyful habitation.  It’s where we stop, stay, rest, linger, live, abide.  To reside suggests a mere being there, without a real connection, or warmth.  There’s really no life-force or joyful habitation.  No engagement with or in the place.  It is what we occupy, are placed, are found, and, are situated.  Can you see, and feel, the difference?  The bottom line, is that your surroundings affect your spirit, mind, and soul; and your heart, as well.  After you design, or create, your sacred space, the chores, the schedules, all the daily living issues, etc., need to be addressed, so all discord is eliminated or brought to a bare minimum.  What a wonderful difference, to walk into a welcoming home that wraps you in everything you love.  How wonderful to feel the peace settle over you as you enter.  Your home is sacred space.  Be purposeful, be deliberate when you create it.  You’ll soon find that God’s Presence dwells there with you.  What you surround yourself with will be absorbed by your heart, mind, and soul.  Let it be God’s Presence.

Know That You Know, That You Know

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we, not only have the right to live in peace and joy, but also, the responsibility to.

There’s a very powerful statement in the message: “Success is the result of work done in peace.”  That tells me a couple of things.  First, it tells me that I have to be at peace within, if I want to make real progress outwardly.  By that, I mean manifesting positive change outwardly.  If I am not happy with myself, if I am hurting or confused, or angry within, etc., I’m not in a state conducive to positive change.  Secondly, it tells me that I must work to bring peace to another, if I want to truly help them.  First peace, then process, then, progress.  Finally, it tells me that I shouldn’t measure success by the wrong things.  There was a time in my life when just making the bed daily was a victory, a success.

Anything that brings peace, as long as it isn’t compromise with evil, is a success; it’s progress.  Of course, peace with evil, isn’t really peace, is it?  We have to be careful what we’re making peace with, also.  Sometimes, what we mistake for peace, can actually be compromise in the wrong direction, or even surrender.  Never surrender your peace, and the joy arising from true peace, to anything or anyone except the Lord, and the Word of God.
