Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that success and money are two different things. “Never count success as money gained,” the message reads. Rather, we need to measure the amount of God’s will and purposes, for our lives, and for others, that we reveal to them. God’s will and purposes are revealed both to us and through us.
We prosper as our souls prosper. Of course, the more one’s soul prospers, the more wealth manifests in one’s life. The problems come when we err in our definition of wealth. When one gets saved, as you grow in the Lord, you begin to discover things within and in your life that are hindrances to your progress as a child of God, in your walk with the Lord. You begin to see the things that are destroying your health (too much fast food, all that ice cream, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, whatever it may be), etc. You begin to see things that aren’t great about you; things you can improve, things you need to stop. So, you set your course, and by the power of God, you begin to overcome all these things. That’s your soul prospering. The wealth is your health gets better, you’re free from the bondage of addictions and dysfunctions, and your life begins to take better shape. You become more confident, you gain stability, and you begin to grow in all kinds of directions. The material stuff is not the wealth. Wealth is the ability to enjoy and share the good things God blesses you with as your grow in Him.
