Saturday Silly – May 29, 2021

Well, I have an update on my recovery from that attack. They said the stress caused me to develop Shingles, in my eye, and on the inside of my head, -Yes, you can get Internal Shingles. Sure, why not me, Lord? LOL

Anyway, I also had to see an ophthalmologist to make sure it cleared up, didn’t damage my eye. Everything is fine, I’m happy to report. One more day on the drops and I should be good to go. That trip to the eye doctor was an adventure. They dilate your eyes for the exam, and afterward, you’re almost blind in the sunlight, and things are blurry. I had a heck of a time finding the bus stop! I wasn’t sure I’d gone the right direction; and, of course, the bus stop sign was about 13 feet off the ground, on that pole. I saw some writing on what I thought might something having to do with the bus. I couldn’t read it with my shades on, and when I took them off, it almost vanished. I got as close to the thing as I could and tried to make out the letters. That poor man! He almost shouted, “Hey, watch it lady! Back up, and get your nose out of my shirt, will ya?!” I said, “Oh, I’m so sorry; I was trying to read the bus stop sign, but I can’t see very well right now. Is this where the bus stop is?” He kind of grunted, “Yes; the bus will be here in three minutes.” I was going to tell him his shirt smelled nice, but I thought better of it.

Yes, Over ALL The Earth!

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 47. It is a praise offering to the LORD, by the sons of Korah. The psalm is a short one, so I’ll post the whole thing here.

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah God has gone up with a shout,
the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!

Does that stir you up? It fills me with a deep and awesome joy; and I can’t help but praise Him! Verse 1 tells us God is a great king over all the earth. That means there is nothing outside of His control; nothing. Verse 4 confirms that God chose us! Not only that, but He chose us to be His children! Is that awesome?! Hallelujah! In verse 8 we are assured that He reigns over all the nations, and that He is definitely on the throne! In verse nine our royal status is confirmed. But, when Jesus died and rose again, He raised that status. We are kings and queens in the earth. We are, in Christ Jesus, seated at the right hand of the Father. That’s both awesome and more than a bit scary, isn’t it? It lets us know though, that we have a responsibility to the earth and its inhabitants. Remember Jesus’ words? He came to serve; not to be served. There’s a reference in this verse to the shields of the earth. When I researched it, I found that Jupiter, the magnetosphere, and the atmosphere are called shields of the earth. Here, actually on Earth, “a large area of exposed Precambrian crystalline igneous and high-grade metamorphic rocks that form tectonically stable areas. These rocks are older than 570 million years and sometimes date back 2 to 3.5 billion years.” These are also called shields. They have to do with the earth’s crust, and plates that shift or don’t shift. Can you imagine God’s workload? These things are changed every time there’s a fire, flood, earthquake, or tornado and hurricane. (volume and weight) He has to adjust for all the depletion of the forests, the strip-mining, etc. WOWWWWW!!!!! Just think, if the weight of the earth was thrown all to one side? We could be careening through outerspace at breakneck speed and on a collision course with another planet. We might even be shot straight into the sun. No God? I beg to differ with you! This made me think of Psalm 104-a must read! That one will leave you awestruck and breathless.

Advice For The Royals

Today’s message comes to us from Proverbs 29; and since you are a king or queen in the earth, it’s for you.

Proverbs 29: 2 tells us “when the righteous flourish, people rejoice, but when the wicked rule people groan.” Proverbs 29:14 “If a king faithfully judges the poor, his throne will be established forever.” That tells me that there is joy in the admonition, encouragement, instruction, and discipline of the Lord. It also tells me that my children will benefit much more if I raise them under the admonition of the Lord. Just as people groan under wicked rulers (parents, boss, supervisor, mate, leader), all of creation is apt to suffer because of wicked rulers. The reason for that is found in Proverbs 29:7-“A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.” This why we have things like pollution, affecting air, water, earth, and the ozone layer that protects us from the sun. Proverbs 29:4 tells us that a king builds up his land by justice, but one who exacts gifts, or *taxes heavily, tears it down. Justice is not only the aim in a court of law; it includes weighing all things out correctly, looking at a thing from all sides, in order to achieve what’s best for all. Exacting a gift is forcing someone to give something to you. This is the cause of most rebellion; even in our children. Force, or duress, is not conducive of peace, which is necessary for learning. Proverbs 29:15 tells us that the rod and reproof give wisdom. The rod, in this case, is used to measure growth, progress, correctness of action. Reproof is instruction meant to correct thinking and action. Isn’t it much easier to learn something when you are made aware of your error(s) and helped to understand the correct way? Proverbs 29: 19 addresses that. “By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.” But, by instruction, and with help, correction can come about. The spilt milk example fits well here. We help the child to clean up the mess, and then figure out how to avoid spilling the milk again. Punishment needs to fit the crime. {You broke the window, and must pay to replace it.} Proverbs 29:12 is an admonition to be careful who you surround yourself with; and to check facts. “If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.” Proverbs 29:22 shows us the value of peace. “A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression. Ever wonder why your children seem to go from being in trouble to being in more trouble, to being in even more trouble? There’s a difference between loving discipline and harsh punishment. Proverbs 29:23 tells us that “One’s pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.” I think of (Matt. 20:28) when I read this one. Jesus came to serve; not to be served. He gave His life to ransom all who believe and receive Him. Proverbs 29:25-26 “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the LORD that a man gets justice.” This is a warning against falling into “people pleasing,” or even expecting people to be pleased with you, actually. Trust in the LORD because He teaches us justice. (Right understanding, correctly weighing things out).

Let It Become The Song In You

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that our praises bring God joy. We are bid to sing praises to His Name. That Name is the one thing you need to know. It is the Name you need to know to call when the storm rolls in. It is the Name you need to know when the sun is shining and your world is all good. Sing it until it becomes the song in you…and you in it.

I found this beautiful celebration of Jesus’ Name. Thank you Ada Ehi for sharing it with us. What a wonderful, joyful praise it is!

The Richest Girl In The World

…Is Daddy’s girl! Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to “lay up treasure in Heaven,” and to set our affections on those things. They are higher than anything we’ll ever find here. And, they are the ones that will endure forever.

My first treasure is my Jesus and my Heavenly Father! Then, there’s the privilege of communicating with them; the privilege of prayer. My children, grandchildren, family and friends are great treasures. I have some beautiful people in my life! There is the sun to warm me, the wind to cool me, the stars to count -because sheep can’t jump that high, the moon to dream over, the water to hydrate, wash, and entertain me. (I love to swim and fish) I know, I know-those are temporal things; but God sends them at exactly the right time, every time.

There are those few moments in the morning, as I’m saying my prayer…this warm hush comes over my spirit, and I can almost feel the Lord wrapping His arms around me. What a way to start the day! I could go on with this list, but it would never end. When I think about having to fight for every breath I took, and being able to breathe deeply now, I’m overcome with tears of gratitude. Healing and health are two great treasures. And, I’m not getting old; just older. See, already I’m winning that battle! LOL

I have the peace and joy of the Lord, within, and once everything gets down to a dull roar, round about me too. That’s the second most awesome thing to possess in this crazy world; the peace and joy of the Lord. Peace and joy in the Lord, all the time, is the most awesome! We walk by faith; and when you have that, you’ve got all you need.

Preparing The Soil

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to spend more time preparing the soil.  Jeremiah 4:3 tells us to break up our fallow ground and don’t sow among thorns.

There are two things that come to mind when I read this scripture.  First, fallow ground is unplowed.  That means the seed won’t get into the soil because the ground is unpenetrable.   If the seed doesn’t get into the soil, it doesn’t get the nourishment required for it to take root and grow.  It will just lie on the surface of the ground and be blown away by the wind, or scorched by the sun.  It’s important to create the right environment; one that will promote growth and success.  This works in every aspect of life; breaking generational curses included.  Secondly, we’re told not to sow among thorns.  Those thorns represent nay-sayers, or unbelievers, those that keep pulling us back into destructive ways and things, etc.  This, also, is very important when we’re breaking generational curses off, and/or breaking bonds of addictions and dysfunctions.

When we spend time preparing the soil, we’re sure to reap the blessings we were ordained to reap.

For You, There Really Is No Night

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell,  reminds us that He is the light in our darkness.  We can rejoice, just like Paul and Silas, even in the darkest darkness.   Isaiah 60:20 tells us that there really is not night for us.  “Your sun will no longer set, and your moon will not wane; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your sorrow will cease.…”

Elton John does this wonderful song; and it says it all! for me  I have spent some time in darkness, and let me tell you…There is no more beautiful sight than the Lord, in your darkness.  Thank you. Lord, for loving me so.

Thank You, Heavenly Father

eden08122015

Bonus song for the day.  Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your love, and for your love in my life.  Thank you to all the “Dads” in my life, for your counsel, your help, your time, your patience, and your peace, given to me just when I needed it most.  I love you much more than I will ever be able to express.  May your day today, and every day, be blessed with love and beauty, the joy and peace of the Lord.

Seek Him Early & You Won’t Have to in the Storm…

eden08122015

Happy Fathers’ Day, Gentlemen, one and all!

Today’s message from God Calling -A.J. Russell, bids us to seek the Lord early-before He gets crowded out by what we call life.  We are admonished to rest in God’s truths, to walk in His ways, and to seek that rest just as eagerly in the good times as we do in the bad times.

When I read this message, I think about mornings when I’m sipping my coffee outside.  Often a little bird or two, sometimes three or four, alight close by and begin to chirp and trill happily.  Do you know that’s God?  Yes, indeed.  That’s one way in which He sends us joy and beauty through His creation.  Experiencing that completely changes your day.  There’s a joy that settles on you and stays with you throughout the day, all because of the silly little birds.  That’s the resting in His ways and truths.  When we seek God in the things around us, He will be found by us; and the question of whether or not He’s with us in the storm, won’t even arise.
