Literally, Everything!

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that “Come unto me,” means for everything. Every need is met in Christ Jesus. There is nothing too small for Him to care about. That’s why we’re encouraged to get as close to the Lord as possible, in relationship. I love Him so! Jesus never ceases to amaze me, to just blow my mind-and heart, and, to make me laugh! Yes, He does have a sense of humor! And, oh, how wonderful it is!

And, let me tell you, Jesus has a sense of humor! I was having my breakfast on Wednesday, and a small flock of pigeons flew over to where I was sitting. Of course, they’re such little beggars! One little pigeon, caught my eye. He was walking, as if wading in water, and made an almost complete circle. Then, he turned his head toward me, and then kind of cocked his little head, nodding to his right, as if pointing across the street. I laughed and said, “Were you over there looking for food and couldn’t find any?” Then, I went back to my breakfast. Now, I had decided, and said the day before, that I would check in with my doctor and make an appointment. I have a few things going on I think I need to get checked out. Anyway, it suddenly occurred to me that my doctor’s office is right back on that side of the street that that little pigeon pointed at when he cocked his little head in that direction. I couldn’t help myself. I looked up in Heaven’s direction and said, “Was that you, Jesus?!” I had a good laugh, then. Yes, I did go make that appointment. See, Jesus cares! Literally, everything matters to Him. I sure hope He doesn’t tell that doctor I’ve been eating all that sausage and cheese lately.

Blessed Assurance Is That Peace

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are to seek peace; to pursue it.  We are told that blessed assurance, that calm, knowing that God is God, is what brings about true success.  Only when we attain this calm, can true work be done, and body, mind, and soul be strengthened to achieve the victory.

Isaiah 32:17 tells us that “The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” (NKJV)  This tells me that my work, as a child of God, is to seek peace in everything.  It is to bring peace to all situations; inner peace and peace round about.  This peace-making, bringing, and keeping, is righteousness.  (Matt. 5:9) -“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”  This assurance is the result of a deep trust and certainty in God’s love, His promises, and His Word.  This is that calm, the peace, that we need to fight for.  This is the peace we must protect, at all costs.  By that, I mean, sometimes you need to walk away from things, or even people, if they are destroying peace in your home, your life, your heart.  I don’t mean just one or two events.  I’m talking about someone who chooses this havoc wreaking as a way of life.  That’s a coat you need to take off so you don’t drown in the pool kind of thing.

When we strive to bring about peace within, we are better equipped to establish and maintain peace in our surroundings, our relationships, our daily living.  That’s why the commandment says, love your neighbor as yourself.  It’s you first, then your neighbor and all else follows…often without struggle.

The Greatest Distance

eden08122015

Today’s message from God  Calling – A.J. Russell, speaks to us of the distances between souls and hearts.

We’re bid to abide in God’s love, in His presence, to remain close to Him.  We’re told that false words, fears, doubts, etc. are the things that keep us distant from Him.  What we don’t often think about is that the very same things hold true in our human relationships.  Angry words spoken in haste, fear instilled in someone-and that includes insecurity about being loved, these things create distance between two hearts.  They tear souls, and tear souls apart.

The message in the book is really powerful, so I hope you’ll visit their website, and read it for yourselves.  twolisteners.org

Boy, what a week this has been!  My cardiology appointment went well, and, thank you, Jesus.  After my appointment I decided to take the afternoon off and go do a bit of sight seeing.  There’s a lot of construction going on all over Las Vegas.

Someone is opening a new wedding chapel downtown.  They’re re-purposing an old building.  I happened to notice a Porta Potty just outside the back door of the wedding chapel.  Now, I’ve been married twice…I thought to myself, “I wonder if that’s for those couples where you just know the whole relationship’s going to be down the toilet before the reception’s even over.  You know, the in laws haven’t met each other until the wedding day…and the fight’s on the minute Rudy tells “Skippy’s” wife to go “fetch” each of them a beer from the bar fridge…before the bride arrives in the limo…and sure enough, somebody invited cousin Leroy, the playboy…He goes to weddings to meet women…yep, I’m pretty sure that’s what that Porta Potty’s for…but hey, it’s really a good idea…when you think about those people with lactose intolerance and such…Hmm, I think I’m telling my children to elope…I’m kidding, kids, you know I carry a gun…LOL..oh, alright, I ‘ll be good then…
