In Meekness Lies Victory

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that it is the meek who inherit the earth. Meekness is willingness to be taught, or guided/led. It is the stopping all thought, all action, and laying down our will and our understanding. It is giving ourselves over to God’s Will.

Do you know that we cannot fail when we do that? In that meekness, we gain strength, we gain knowledge, we gain courage…whatever it is you need in those moments, God’s got it for you. He can’t give it to you, though, if your hands are tightly clutching everything you know, everything you think, everything you feel. I wrote a psalm once, and one of the lines comes to mind as I read this message. “You could have left me there, in my own understanding, but you took my place for me…” When we yield our will, God can step in and do exactly that. His mind (the mind of Christ) takes the place of ours. His courage comes to your heart. His peace and faith wash over you. It is in that meekness, that our victory lies. “My strength is made perfect in your weakness.” (2Cor. 12:9) Whenever self decreases and allows God to increase, strength comes…perfectly.

This is one of my favorite songs; especially when I’m in need of laying down my will and letting God work in, and through me. Thank you, Gaither family.

They Don’t See It; We Can

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to look more and more toward the Kingdom of Heaven. We’re bid to look up from Earth’s sorrows, sadness, and sordidness; up and into Heaven.

“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:27) Jesus was talking about the beginning of the end time, here. It applies to us today. What you see is not as important as what you perceive is. That means how you are affected by something is more important than the something. How one is affected by things is largely a choice.

The choice is ours. Do I let the news dictate whether or not I’ll have a good day? Do I let my job loss cause me to feel inferior, unable, fearful, etc.? All the promises of God are yes and amen, in Christ Jesus. (2 Cor. 1:20) That tells me that Heaven is a beautiful place, a positive place, a possible place! It also tells me that I can be happy in spite of all that’s going on in the world. I can create and sustain beauty, peace, joy, life, even in the sordidness. I can bring life, peace, beauty, and joy to those who sorrow, and into the sadness of the lives of others. I have but to determine, or to choose, to do so. Once again, “brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things,” applies to us. (Philippians 4:8) When we do this, we can manifest it, and the unseen becomes more visible to all down here.

The Cure For Envy

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to “never be satisfied with a comparison with those around us.” -quoting directly from the message at twolisteners.org.  I hope you’ll read the entire message for yourselves-it’s awesome.

We’re told to review our character at least weekly, and to compare it to Jesus’ character instead.  We’re bid to imitate our Lord, then.  “Be perfect, therefore, as your Father in Heaven is perfect,” He said. (Matt. 5:48 – NIV)

When you remain mindful of this, you begin to check yourself whenever you feel yourself slipping.  Spiritually, this is a very empowering thing.  You begin to walk more securely in God’s ways.  You become less and less insecure in regard to your “popularity”, and what others think of you.  And, you get so busy growing and discovering all the wonderful things God put inside you, that there’s no room for envy.  There is now only room for celebration and celebration with others over their triumphs, gifts, and talents, etc.

There Is No Failure In Eternal Time

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are operating in Eternal Standard Time.  “There is no age in eternity,” says the message.  Praise God! Praise God!  I knew it all along!  I’m 39 again, again.  LOL

The message bids us not to feel pitiful; to have not pity for ourselves.  Rather, keep going forward, unafraid, and joyously.  We are completely quipped and completed protected by our Heavenly Father, and all the hosts of Heaven know our names.  Isn’t that awesome?!

That brings me to this, from Isaiah 50:4 (ESV) – The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word  him who is weary.
Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

Two of the best places to get renewed and refreshed in spirit, and strengthened in faith and courage, are the Psalms and the book of Isaiah.  There’s always another little nugget I find whenever I read them.  That’s what Isaiah was talking about in that verse. Both Psalms and Isaiah tell us about the LORD’s love for us; of His protectiveness over us.  We learn of His foreknowledge of all things; and, believe me, He’s got us!
