Make It A Lifestyle

Today’s message comes to us from Psalms 33. (ESV) We’re told to rejoice in the LORD, and that it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. That lets me know that I can make praise, joy, and thanksgiving a mindset, or attitude. Every praise, every psalm, and every thanksgiving offering begins with a word from your heart. Joy is like anointing oil poured over our spirit; there’s no reason a child of God cannot have joy-even in the deepest darkness; the most adverse circumstance. Remember Paul and Silas singing praises in the prison cell at midnight? Yeah. Joy isn’t always laughter and hullabaloo. Joy is very often being still able to enjoy life, rising out of a deep assurance of, and trust in God. “In the world you’ll have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Simply make a point of rejoicing and giving thanks anywayevery day.

One of the things that gives us that deep assurance is that all of God’s work is done in faithfulness. He doesn’t do what He does to get a rise out of you. He’s not seeking anyone’s approval, of even a desired result. God’s not a manipulator. He does what He does, because it’s to be done. The sowing and reaping principle applies here. Jesus said, “Make the tree good, and the fruit will be good.” (Matt. 12:33) God knows that the fruit will come naturally.

Here’s a powerful revelation. “He spoke and it came to be.” Now apply that to yourself, your mate, your children, you life. What are you saying? “You’ll never amount to anything!” OR “Look what you can do!” See the difference. One is negative and destructive; the other, positive and empowering. “for which is easier to say…” (Matt. 9:5) Here’s the second revelation from this verse. (V-9) “He commanded, and it stood firm.” Another word for “command” is mastery. This comes in when we’re talking about respect and self-respect. If you are going to demand respect, you must command (as in master) respect and self-respect. To be respected, respect and be respectable. Then you will stand firm. Whenever we master God’s word, we reach the next level of strength and glory. Verses 10 and 11 of this psalm are out saving grace. And, thank you, LORD/Lord!!!!! No nation can stand against the LORD; for His counsel stands forever, and “the plans of His heart to all generations. Amen and Hallelujah! When we parent our children, and deal with our loved ones the way God does, they’re less likely to fall victim to false doctrine, falsehood, and strange counsel.

Maybe The Problem Isn’t Your Ears

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we never ask anything of God, that He does not respond to. He hears every prayer, every complaint, every whine, every whim, every cry. The answer is there. Unfortunately, we often fail to hear it.

Maybe the problem isn’t your ears. It could be your heart. Do you have something you need to tell God? I used to ask my kids that whenever they got distantly quiet, and stopped asking of me, or seeking to speak to me. Sometimes, we load ourselves with guilt over stuff that really doesn’t even matter -at least not that much. We allow ourselves to get distracted, doing, doing, doing…and we do, like, a run by praying. You know, you’re actually going a hundred miles an hour in your mind at church and, “God, please make that jerk boss of mine see my point tomorrow, thanks and amen…SEE YA!” Maybe you need to just STOP everything, spend some time in praise and worship, and just get all the clutter and mutter out of your heart…get your peace back on-and in you. It’s always soooo much easier to hear God when the world is quiet!

They Don’t See It; We Can

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, bids us to look more and more toward the Kingdom of Heaven. We’re bid to look up from Earth’s sorrows, sadness, and sordidness; up and into Heaven.

“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:27) Jesus was talking about the beginning of the end time, here. It applies to us today. What you see is not as important as what you perceive is. That means how you are affected by something is more important than the something. How one is affected by things is largely a choice.

The choice is ours. Do I let the news dictate whether or not I’ll have a good day? Do I let my job loss cause me to feel inferior, unable, fearful, etc.? All the promises of God are yes and amen, in Christ Jesus. (2 Cor. 1:20) That tells me that Heaven is a beautiful place, a positive place, a possible place! It also tells me that I can be happy in spite of all that’s going on in the world. I can create and sustain beauty, peace, joy, life, even in the sordidness. I can bring life, peace, beauty, and joy to those who sorrow, and into the sadness of the lives of others. I have but to determine, or to choose, to do so. Once again, “brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things,” applies to us. (Philippians 4:8) When we do this, we can manifest it, and the unseen becomes more visible to all down here.

Russell, reminds us that it is sin for us who know Him as Father, to doubt Him.  The longer I’ walk with our Heavenly Father, the more reasons I find to trust Him, and to rest assured in His steadfast love for us.  That being said, I want to share one of my favorite oldies with you.  Thank you, Gaithers for all the joy you bring me through your music!

He Cannot Fail You

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that God has promised to provide all we need, every time we need, no matter what we need. (No, I’m not talking about that cold beer, the weed, speed, and what have you.  He will provide a way for you to free yourself from the bondage of those things, because He loves you, though.

The Bible tells us that all God’s promises are yes and amen.  The message tells us that Jesus, as our Lord, is sworn to protect and provide for us.  It took me some time to learn this lesson.  When we ask, it is promised that we will receive.  However, God uses many channels, God knows what we need most (Father knows best, you know).  God also has perfect timing.  When I figured that out I realized that I was, either not ready to handle what I was asking for, being averted from a disappointment or disaster, or I was looking in the wrong places for it.  Have you ever looked all over the house for your glasses, only to find them on your nose?  Yeah, that would be me, if I had to wear them all the time.

The message tells us that we need only a grateful spirit and loving heart to unlock the vastness of God’s provision.  I’m not just speaking of material needs.  I’m also, and especially speaking of spiritual needs.  I think those are even more critical to us, to our success in life.  If you’re spirit is lacking in any way, that lack manifests itself in every part of your life.  I’m not talking about religious things, here.  I’m talking about your confidence, your knowledge, your peace within, your tenacity, your joy and love-of you, of your life, and of life in general.

Sometimes I make a little list of things I’m grateful for.  I used to do that daily.  Now, I do it when I’m needing a little lift, or when it’s something special that touches me.  But, I do start my day with Thank you, Jesus.  I have found that the prayers for this or for that, have become fewer, and the supply-especially in spirit, has become greater and greater.  “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you,
if you obey the voice of the LORD your God.  ” (Deuteronomy 28:22)

It Requires Remaining Aware of His Love

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we have a refuge in, and from, this world.  We are bid to dwell in God’s love, laughing, trusting, and knowing His Divine Power.

I realized some time ago, that, when I choose to seek God’s love in the world around me, I am always sure to find it.  Sometimes, it’s contained in the tiniest things, or revealed in the smallest of ways, but it’s always there.  When we begin to dwell, to really live in God’s love, we become more and more aware of His Divine Power.  There’s almost no question, whatsoever, of the source of the little “coincidences, miracles, and eleventh hour rescues.”

Just this morning, I walked out to my storage place.  I rearranged my bag for the day, locked up, and headed back down to the entry gate.  The keypad at the exit point wasn’t working.  I rang the manager’s bell a couple of times, finally ringing in Morse Code, “SOS.”  It was about 8:33 a.m.  I sat down to wait for the manager, who would be in at 9 a.m.  I thought, well, I might as well take the time to say my morning prayer.  I hadn’t yet.  I said my amen, and added, “Jesus, please send somebody up here in a hurry.”  No sooner were the words out of my mouth, and one of the office workers showed up.  I told her the keypad wasn’t working.  She asked how long I’d been there, and I said, “Oh, about fifteen minutes.”  She said, “You’re lucky I came in early today; I usually don’t show up until 9:30 a.m.”  I’m so glad Jesus hears our prayers.

Jesus said that he couldn’t work His miracles in some places because of the unbelief.  He asked, “Do you believe…?  He also said, “Your faith has made you well, healed you, saved you, etc.”  Faith activates God’s Divine Power in our lives.  When we make it a point to seek, accept, and reciprocate by living in that love toward ourselves and others, more and more of God’s Divine Power becomes active in our lives.  As this takes place, our faith is fed, and grows.  Walking by faith then becomes easier and easier; like breathing.
