Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us to keep things simple. We are bid to strive to simplify our lives; to honor the humble and simple things in life.
(Matthew 6:33) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Jesus was talking about worry and anxiety, and how we complicate our lives with these. The lesson is that life really is about much more than stuff, stuff, and more stuff. We over schedule, over work, over do, etc.
I received a single rose recently; a gift from a friend. I cut the stem a little and put it in some water. Then I watched the leaves fill with a beautiful pale fuchsia color, and give off a wonderful its wonderful scent. How absolutely beautiful! Now, had I a home, I would have probably taken the petals, and put them in my bath water later. They’d probably be beautiful tucked around a votive in a candle holder. (Use the LED kind so the petals don’t burn) See how that one simple little gift, can progress to more joy for someone?
Simplicity really does promote progress. Think of a desk top cluttered with papers, utensils, etc. Doesn’t that just give you brain freeze, right there? Organization is part of simplicity, and simplicity is actually rule number one for organization. This might be a good time to take an inventory, and see if there’s anything that needs to be organized, and/or simplified. I do this on a regular basis…it helps to preserve my sanity.
