Love Like That…Cont’d

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 99. It’s another praise, extolling God’s might, His works, and His heart for us. I hope you’ve gotten a little stronger assurance of God’s love over the last few posts. I posted this song some time ago, with one of my messages. The Holy Spirit moved me to post it again, for you to start your week out with. This is God’s heart for us, Let Him wrap His arms around you, and just bask in His love for you. Thank you, Joe Cocker, for your beautiful voice and style.

Saturday Silly – June 5, 2021

Boy, oh boy! June is filled with observances and events! This is Aquarium month, and the first week of this June is fishing week. I thought, “that would be a great way to get rid of a trouble maker, you know. Take them fishing at the Shark Reef over at Mandalay Bay.” LOL June 2nd was the anniversary of my High School graduation. 44 years ago I graduated high school. Interestingly enough, June 2nd was also Rocky Road Day. It was a rocky road to graduation. Today is National Trails Day. I was reminded of a hike I went on with my first husband, while we were just dating. I did okay, but my little feet were sure hurting after all that hiking and climbing (thank God there wasn’t too much of that) in those three inch heels I was wearing. LOL He said I was a champ. I thought, “yeah, and you’re a chump for not telling me we were going hiking.” LOL

A Great Meditation Piece

Today’s message comes to us from Psalms and Proverbs 26. Psalm 26 is actually a prayer of King David’s. I think it’s a great piece to meditate on.

Vindicate me, O LORD! For I have walked with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. Test me, O LORD, and try me; examine my heart and mind. For Your loving devotion is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth. I do not sit with deceitful men, nor keep company with hypocrites. I hate the mob of evildoers, and refuse to sit with the wicked. I wash my hands in innocence that I may go about Your altar, O LORD, to raise my voice in thanksgiving and declare all Your wonderful works. *This is about getting your heart right before the LORD/Lord. Confess if you have something to confess, ask for His forgiveness and help, and then your praise and thanksgiving won’t be hindered and robbed of its power. O LORD, I love the house where You dwell, the place where Your glory resides. Do not take my soul away with sinners, or my life with men of bloodshed, in whose hands are wicked schemes, whose right hands are full of bribes. *Don’t let me fall into their hands, or be taken in by their schemes.* But I will walk with integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me. My feet stand on level ground; in the congregations I will bless the LORD. I’ve italicized the points I meditate on; their my checklist when I’m doing self inventory. One thing I found is that, even when it’s been a week or stumbling and/or I find myself more than a little apathetic, God’s love has not changed, and He’s always ready, willing, and more than able to reveal, refresh, and restore me-body, mind, heart, and soul.

Proverbs 26 is an entire listing of some dos and don’ts for the child of God. It’s also a good meditation piece; maybe even one that one can take some notes on from time to time, in regard to personal happenings.

Joy Is The Reward

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that there is joy at the end of the journey. Though the journey be long, and grueling at times, and sometimes we may wonder if we’re forsaken, we surely are not! Due to library closures, the rest of my posts for this year will be short, and hopefully, I can find a song for each day. I hope you will continue to read the messages at twolisteners.org, as I will.

This one is by Jeremy Camp; perfect for a mid-week pick up.

A Friend Indeed Is He

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we have a true friend in our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are reminded that it makes our service much sweeter when we remember that He values that friendship with us. Isn’t that awesome? What you do in obedience to Him, touches His heart in this particular way. What a beautiful thing; to be called “friend,” by the King of kings!

I love this old song. I thought I’d share it with you, to help us get the week started. Thank you, Larry Ford, and Gaither Family.

Saturday Silly – November 7, 2020

Boy howdy! What a week it’s been! Sadie and I were reminiscing about our childhoods and some of our favorite relatives recently. We both agreed that our grandmothers were our favorite. We got to talking about some of their special holiday dishes. I told her one of my favorite dishes my granny made was Pickled Beets. I said, “I don’t like beets any other way, but I sure did love those!” Sadie said, “My grandma used to make a dish on the holidays called Drunken Sweet Potatoes.” “Matter of fact,” she said, “that’s how I ended up marrying Burt.” I said, “Really, Sadie? Your granny’s dish got you two together?” “Sure did,” she replied. I said, “They must have been some special sweet potatoes, Sadie.” “Yeah, “she said, “Granny made me wait until I was eighteen years old to eat them, because of their power.” “Power, what power,” I asked. Sadie said, “Well, Granny said the sweet potatoes helped her with her estrogen level-because she was menopausal, you know. “‘And the Jack Daniels”‘, Granny said, “‘helps your Grandpa look awesome!” -NO, family, I’m sticking with my Macaroni Salad…and there will be no Jack Daniels added to it!

Stay With Him; He’s With You

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that it is not the scorn and mocking of the enemy that hurts…it is the scorn, mocking, the rejection and desertion of our friends that tears our hearts. Our Lord, Jesus, is wounded by our desertion. We don’t think about it as being desertion when we give up and go our own way in the storm. That’s exactly what it is, though; desertion. When I realized how much I was, not only hurting Jesus, but myself as well, I began to pray and ask Him , “please don’t let me let go of your hand, Lord.” I’m so happy to say there is no more letting go…now it’s just, “Okay, Lord, let’s go.” Praise God!

I hope this blesses you as much as it does me. It’s a great way to start the week out…worshiping our Savior, our Lord, our Joy! Thank you, Gaither Family

Saturday Silly – October 17, 2020

My it’s been a busy week! People chasing me around all over town, hitting me with those little zappers, trying to destroy that right breast…trying to keep up with my Bible studies, my posts, and start a brand new year of life…October 14th was my birthday. October 14th this year, was also National Fossil Day… Here’s my card, of course. LOL I don’t know why you people cannot understand that I am merely 39 again again! Hah! Actually, I will, and proudly, tell you that I am 61 years young this year…and getting younger every minute.

Today is Black Poetry Day…One of my favorite black poets is Langston Hughes. It’s also Home Movie Day. Comedy is definitely my favorite, when it comes to movies. One of the funniest movies I’ve ever watched is Gone Fishin’ starring Joe Pesci and Danny Glover. If you haven’t seen it, you’re in for such a wonderful treat. Don’t pass it up!

Tender Lights And Restful Shades

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we walk the same path Jesus walked while on Earth; and still does today, really. I encourage you to read the message yourself, at twolisteners.org – Let your spirit absorb all that it means to have that closeness with the Lord. It really does make living for Him sublime.

The longer we walk that path with the Lord, the more beautiful those tender lights and restful shades become. I find myself caught up in them more frequently as the years go by. I shared a beautiful praise song with you recently. “Show Me Your Face,” is the name of it. You all know that I’m homeless, right? Actually, I’m only houseless. Anyway, one morning last week, after I’d put my bedroll together, I said my morning prayer, and sang my Hallelujahs to the Lord, as usual. And then, I sang just the first line of that beautiful song…”Show me your face, Lord, show me your face. And then gird up my legs so I can stand in this Holy Place…” I’d no sooner sung that line, when a man came around the corner, drove down the street. And, turning around, he pulled up right where I was sitting, and handed me a twenty dollar bill. He said, “God bless you, Sister.” He wished me a good day, and drove away. Ladies and gentlemen, if you don’t think I was basking in those tender lights of Jesus’ love just then…

Same day, a little later, and I was waiting for the bus. I’d been waiting for quite awhile, and I do try to keep a sense of humor. “Oh, Lordy, I’m in fear of that blister, and I can’t walk very far…Oh, Lordy, please have mercy on this sister; send the bus or send a car…” I kind of rewrote a couple of lines from the Renegade song. (It’s an old rock song). Then I said, “Uncle Pete, please turn on the fan and give that bus a tail wind. Please send that bus now. In Jesus’ Name, I ask it. Please, and thank you, Lord.” I looked up, and the bus came around the corner just then. I couldn’t help but laugh…and I could almost swear I heard someone laughing far away, up above me…LOL

That secret path is the one on which all those little joys and treasures, and intimate moments with the Lord are to be found. I wouldn’t want to walk any other path on Earth…and I’m so grateful that He loves me enough share that path with me.
