Your Progress Is The Answer

Waw Psalm 119:41-48

Verses 41-42 “Let you steadfast love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; then I shall have an answer for him who taunts me for I trust in your word.” I’m laughing because it’s not “Murphy’s law”, it’s your adversary, the devil. I’m also laughing because God never fails to save me from discouragement, fear, and even myself. Salvation isn’t just a one time deal. Jesus saves us every minute; in every circumstance. It means you might have to put on some praise music and battle your way through the fear, fatigue, whatever it may be. You may need to read some of the psalms and stir yourself up. I can promise you this: You will win! God’s word accomplishes that for which He sends it.

Verses 43-48 “And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules.” -Don’t stand quietly by, stand on His Word and speak to the mountain, and/or the devil! “I will keep your law continually, forever and ever, and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.” The path that God has us walking is level; we can step confidently. “I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. I will life up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.” -Remember those powers and principalities in the heavenly places? They cannot refute the Word of God! When we remind ourselves of God’s word about us, and His promises to us, we gain strength.

The Path Of Faith

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 97. It is a psalm of praise, extolling the LORD’s power and goodness toward us. There are a couple of revelations in this psalm that will inspire us to turn quickly to the LORD; and they also empower our peace in the midst of the storms. I’m reading from the ESV.

Verse 5 is where we’ll begin: “The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.” This is a revelation of how powerless all those trials and tribulations are before God. I cannot recall one instance in which I, even casually, said, “God, help me…”, or “Lord, I need your help with this,” etc., that God didn’t come through. -Not a single one. Things didn’t always work out immediately, and sometimes they didn’t work out the way I thought I wanted them to, but God never failed me. “Ask and you shall receive,” Jesus said; and you always will. Where we miss it, is in those few minutes that we should be breathing deeply and quieting our spirit. It is in the stillness that God speaks. This is where the inspirations, the ideas, the strength, and the courage come. The mountains do melt like wax, and that wax polishes the path of faith.

Verse 11 is the next little revelation to us: “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.” This is that gentle wave of inspiration, ideas, strength, and courage that comes to us as we look to the LORD/Lord. That’s the light that is sown for us. Being upright in heart is not just about being obedient, being righteous. It is about standing in expectation before the LORD. It was sown. It will produce; because the Word of God is alive and active, and accomplishes that for which He sends it. There is a boldness implied here, of one who knows who, and whose he/she is, and steps into his/her right/rightful place. We don’t have to whine, plead, or beg. We simply have to ask and believe that it’s ours; because it is. We have the right, as children of God to approach the throne of grace boldly; just like Jesus.

Meditate On Your Victories

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 77. The psalm speaks of troubled times, when you don’t see God working on your behalf. I think, when think we’ve gone too far, or when we wait till it’s too late (it never is), we have a hard time seeing that God is right there with us. Jesus promised He would never leave us or forsake us, and that He’ll be with us always. When we’ve gotten too far into the trouble, or even when it’s just been so dark for so long, we might be unsure about His love. Turn to Him anyway. Praise Him anyway. He’s there, and it’s that praise, and that turning, that surrendering yourself to Him, that takes the scales off of your eyes.

Verses 10-15 speak of stirring ours faith up by recounting God’s work in and around our previous victories. “

Then I said, “I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph.” (ESV) As I’ve said before, that redemption is for right here and now in your every day life. It’s not just redemption for eternal life. God can redeem your self-esteem, your faith, your peace, your joy, your discipline and perseverance, your sanity. I hope you’ll read the entire psalm for yourselves. It’s another great spiritual booster.

Resting In God

I apologize for the error in yesterday’s post. The message comes from Psalm 61, not Psalm 60. Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 62. It speaks to us about resting in God, for one thing. If anybody’s living proof that one needs to do that more often, it would be me. I get moving on my projects and start picking up speed, and the next thing you know, I’m sprawled out in front of Jesus praying, “Help me get up, Lord.” LOL We can get going so fast that we lose track of where we’re at, and we end up losing focus.

God is a fortress of rest for one’s soul. When you truly get into that fortress with Him, nothing can shake or disturb that peace there. Verse 7 is a great spiritual booster when we get hold of it. “My salvation and my honor rest on God.” That tells me I don’t need to try to “look like I got it goin’ on.” In Christ, you have got it “goin’ on!” And, it’s always going on, because the law of the kingdom of Heaven is progress. Verse 8 tells us to pour out our hearts before Him. You know, God is the best listener I’ve ever known. Yes, He does care about your heart. The issues of life flow from it, and He told us to guard our hearts well. Verses 11 and 12 are our assurance that God’s got it; and God;s got us. “God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God, and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds.” That can also be found in (Romans 2:6) God will repay each man according to his deeds.

Increasing Your Days

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 61. it’s a psalm of King David’s, and a short one, so I’ll post the whole thing for you.

(Psalm 61 -ESV) “Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah
For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations! May he be enthroned forever before God;
appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him! So will I ever sing praises to your name,
as I perform my vows day after day.

The NIV reads: Increase the days of the king’s life. I like that word better than “prolong.” Here’s the reason: Increase also means to make greater in size, intensity, or degree. This tells me that I don’t have to live an ordinary, or humdrum life. When we allow God to lead us to that rock that is higher than we are, we can increase in every way. -Dear Jesus, I do not need to increase an;y more in size, by the way. Jesus said, “The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.” (John 3:31)

King David prayed that he might be enthroned before God forever. This is what Paul meant when he said, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24) In this way, we are truly enthroned before the LORD, because He sees our striving and serving.

When we allow steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over us, and to guide us, we learn to go the extra mile; we learn to give that extra whatever it is that makes for excellence. An example would be not only doing the dishes, but drying them and putting them away, cleaning the sink, sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor, etc. for Mom or Dad, or for your mate. That’s an increase in your thoughtfulness, in the quality of your work, and in your sense of self-worth-because you’re striving to do an excellent job. This is growth on your part. Can you see the increase? When we make a habit of following the path of love and faithfulness, we increase our days with so much love, peace, and joy. And in a family, we actually increase everyone’s days.

A Good Day Starts In The Morning

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 59. King David, once again, is entreating the LORD because Saul’s having his house watched, so that he can kill David. The psalm ends up with a couple of key verses.

Psalm 59:16 & 17 – “But I will sing of Your strength and proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning. For You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. To You, O my strength, I sing praises, for You, O God, are my fortress, my God of loving devotion.” (BSB) Not only does this speak to us of the importance of stirring our spirits up in God’s love and devotion, and praising Him. It speaks to us of stirring our children’s spirits up in our love and devotion for them. Not only that, but of singing their praises; of building them up in their spirits. This builds their confidence and readiness to face the day. A good day always starts first thing in the morning.

The Power Of Knowledge

Today’s message comes to us from Psalm 44. “We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us the work You did in their days, in the days of old.” This is the very first verse of the psalm; and it speaks loudly to us of the power of knowledge. Here’s how it works: Until you can see/realize the truth, you may not be able to discern the right or wrong of something you’re doing, something that’s going on, etc. Until you see/realize, and accept that truth, you cannot change it. Satan is a master of deception, illusion, and a false sense of security, pride, and worth.

Verses 2-8 of this psalm tell us who’s responsible for that empowerment. “…You are my King, O’God…through you we repel our foes…you save us…” We need to choose life for our children, and make it our creed. (Joshua 24:15) It’s through our standards and boundaries that they overcome the darkness and destruction in the world. *This works both ways. When we choose the wrong standards and don’t establish boundaries, or enforce them, the darkness and destruction in the world overcomes them.

Verses 23-26 Let us know that they can’t do it without us. Without us they will be afflicted and oppressed. This makes me think of Jesus’ words: “In the world you will have tribulation.” (John 16:33) “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” (John 15:18-19). When we teach our children God’s Word, testify about His love and working in our lives, we are empowering them with the knowledge of God. *Actually, God’s Word empowers us with the knowledge of good and evil. When we do this, we empower and reinforce, and redeem, identity, dignity, peace, power, and authority. We also strengthen and preserve the bond of relationship.

Saturday Silly-February 20, 2021

Well, look what the wind blew back in! LOL! Sorry about the latest lapse; someone up to their devilish and childish havoc wreaking again.

Speaking of the wind…and childish, and havoc…I ride the bus daily. I’ve heard a lot of complaints from a variety of people, about the rudeness and unprofessional attitudes, and incompetence of some of the drivers, and the security guards. I, myself, have complained to supervisors, as well. Yesterday, I was on the bus, and the security guard got off at the bus stop to talk to the the two men sitting there. Neither one of them got on the bus; they were just sitting on the bench. This security guard seemed to be giving them the third degree, and a hard time, about it. I thought, “I wonder if it has occurred to him that someone may have hired those two men to hold that bench down. I mean, it has been pretty windy lately.” So good to be back at it.

Ah, That Tongue Thing Again

Today’s message comes to us from Psalms and Proverbs 15. Psalms 15:1 Asks the question: Who shall be welcomed and able to dwell with God, in His presence; and who will be able to walk in the power of the Kingdom of Heaven, or the Holy Spirit? We have a whole list that begins in verse 2, and ends in verse 5.

“The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.” (NIV) *Most other versions do not include the word poor in that statement about lending money without interest. Also, that word despise means to avoid, in this sense. God hates the sin; but He loves the sinner. However, we can fall into some dire straits by hangin’ out with the wrong crowd; and by letting the wrong people into our inner circle…*living proof, I am.

When we move on to Proverbs 15, we find all kinds of revelation and admonition about keeping our hearts pure and our speech edifying, and honorable (Eph. 4:29) “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Verse 15:19 addresses sloth. Sloth is laziness. When we get lazy-in doing, in learning, and in being perfected in love, we’re in dangerous territory. Sloth/laziness will immobilize you, imprison you, and incapacitate you. All three of those are interchangeable in order.

Whatever You Ask In My Name

Psalm 4 and Proverbs 4 are the focus of today’s message. Psalm 4 is actually a prayer of King David. Verse three tells us to “know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself;” and He hears when we call to Him. I love verses 7 and 8: “You have filled my heart with more joy than when grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” This is how we deal with doubt, fear, confusion, etc. We go to the Word of God, and we stir ourselves up and strengthen our spirit through His Word. Jesus said to Satan: “It is written!” God’s word is alive an active, and filled with power. (Hebrews 4:12)

Proverbs 4 is actually a father admonishing his sons regarding gaining Godly knowledge and wisdom. We’re enlightened about the wicked and evil-doers (this includes the powers and principalities, and hosts of spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places). We are encouraged to avoid being swayed by them and their ways, and to stay on the right paths. “Make level paths for your feet,” we’re admonished. (Proverbs 4:26) This all works for daughters, by the way. LOL Isn’t it almost as if the LORD, Himself is speaking to us. Actually, He is; because all scripture is God-breathed, or inspired by God, Himself. Once again, thank you, Casting Crowns. I’ll never get tired of this song, either.
