Happy Birthday Every Day!

eden08122015

Happy Birthday to me!  I’m 60 years young today.  In other words, I’m 39 again, again….Today’s message from God Calling -A.J. Russell, speaks to us of God’s sacrifice; of Christ’s sacrifice for us.

Behold the Lamb of God…in Christ Jesus, every day is a new one.  There is nothing you cannot be resurrected from…no divorce, no addiction, no failure, no hurt, nothing.  If you come to the cross of Christ and lay those things down right there, whatever it is or was, will be removed from you as far as the East is from the West.  It won’t happen overnight or instantly, in most cases.  But that’s because in walking it out, you learn the things you need to learn about that addiction, failure, divorce, etc., whatever it is.  The things you learn empower to you forgive, to grow up from there, and to help others walk it out.

There was a time I could barely stand to be conscious.  I hated every waking moment.  Now, I thank God every day that He didn’t give up on me; and He didn’t let me give up on myself, either.  Every day with God is a new day…another opportunity…another step closer to Him.  Yes, dears, I will post an updated picture of myself later this week.

Sculpted More & More Beautiful

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, ties in well with Saturday’s message, that tells us we are His joy.  Today’s message speaks to us about the beauty of progress.  We go from glory to glory, from step to step, onward, upward.

The message speaks of being sculpted by a master potter.  When I thought about this, I envisioned myself changing over the years.  There’s a time when those short shorts just didn’t look the same on me as the crop pants do.  The crops seem much more elegant at my age.  That’s just the surface thing.

On the inside, I can tell you, my priorities are a lot different.  There are things that used to be huge for me.  Now, I’m not bothered the least bit by them.  I’ve learned to take things in stride.  I have a lot more patience.  I’m a little faster at catching myself too.  God probably will tell you I’m one of His biggest challenges, and that He probably won’t be near done with my by resurrection day…But I thank God every day for His patience with me, and His love for me.

The whole message here, is that we always have a higher level to attain to.  That’s so things won’t get dull.  It also means that when I’m on my face in the dirt, I still have something to reach for, someone to look up to, and someplace to get up and go to.

Saturday Silly – October 12, 2019

eden08122015

…My version of that Tyrol hat…Oktoberfest has been in full swing for a couple of weeks now.  Here’s something you may not know.  Oktoberfest was originally a wedding celebration.  It was the day that Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (he later became King Ludwig the First), and Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen were married-October 12, 1810.  The celebration lasted several days, actually; and then became Oktoberfest, as the people loved it so much.  Now, it’s celebrated all around the world.  So, do you know what happened to the three little ghosties who stayed too long at Oktoberfest?  They were three sheets to the wind.  Ha!  I couldn’t resist!

I thought I would share one of my favorite German folk dances with you, as a way of kicking of Oktoberfest…and sharing a little bit of my heritage with you.  This dance is called the Schuhplatter.   I’m not sure if this was competition, or just exhibition, but these gentlemen are awesome!  Then, I wanted to share with you, this other German folk dance, done by couples.  After you watch it, you’ll know where the term, “dizzy blond” originated.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

What Praise Unlocks

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that there is an order to all things; even approaching God.  The message bids us to seek first something we can be thankful for-even in distresses, and then praise God for it…then approach boldly with your cry for help.

I learned some time ago to just live in a state of thankfulness.  Even in the darkest moment, the most outrageous distress, the most dire circumstance, you still have at least one thing to be thankful for.  That one thing is God.  If that’s all you can see that you have to be thankful for, so be it.  Thank Him for being Who He Is.  The instant you do that, the floodgates open, and the blessing flows.  Worry, doubt, fear, anger, bitterness, resentment all dam up that flow.  Praise breaks up the “log jam.”  Praise unlocks the door of the storehouse where your treasures are kept.  The next thing you know, the darkness is dispelled, the fear is gone, the shame and distress are both disarmed, and you know where, exactly you’re going.  “First right with Me, then righted in the eyes of men, too.”

Psalm 26:6-7 is referenced by the message: “I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, Lord, proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds.”  There is a powerful revelation in this scripture.  Washing your hands in innocence suggests that you aren’t going to allow a spirit of shame or fear to stop you from going to God’s.  When we proclaim aloud God’s praise and tell of His wonderful deeds, we are putting the forces of darkness on notice that we’re standing on God’s promises and His Word – “It is written!”  We are also stirring our own spirits up by recounting our victories in Christ, and our state of blessedness through Him. “I am a child of God Most High; and an heir with Christ Jesus!”  Hallelujah!

Doing It As If With The Lord

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, speaks to us about extra work, and extraordinary work.  The extra work is going that extra mile, giving a little more than is required, etc.  The extraordinary work is that part that we read about in the Bible: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,…” (Col. 3:23)

When I read this, I think about the fact that Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always.”  That puts a whole new spin on things.  It’s so much more than serving cheerfully, or going the extra mile willingly and ungrudging.  It’s about ownership.  “My Father owns the Earth and the fullness thereof.  That changes one’s outlook a little, doesn’t it?  Yeah, I’m part owner of this whole thing.  WOWWWWW!  That’s an awesome thing!

No, it doesn’t mean you can run over everyone.  It does mean you should be proud of your work, whatever and wherever that may be.  It means you are at an advantage, intellectually, and spiritually-when you keep this attitude.  It means you are working with the Lord as a partner.  Yes, we have protocol to follow too.  But, oh, the glorious rewards that come with this.  It isn’t just a job…it’s a business, darling; a business.  The King of kings and Lord of lords…and you!

Remind The Darkness Of This

eden08122015

You know I love to worship with Hillsong!  Again, they’ve got the perfect song for today’s post.  No matter what it is, when we remind the darkness of the truth in this song, the darkness will be dispelled.  When it all seems to be overwhelming, stir yourself up with the truth of God’s love…let Him in to strengthen you.  He will never fail you.

They’re Stepping Stones

eden08122015

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that those downfalls, those sorrows, those turbulent and tumultuous events, even the catastrophic events that happen in our lives, are all stepping stones, or safety lines.

It may not seem like it, but all those things can serve to draw us or draw us back to the Lord’s side.  They’re like those road signs-great big arrows that say, “This way to…” -hopefully, the exit, right?  Yeah, I can’t even count how many of those things I’ve seen.  Fortunately, I finally learned to heed them.  You still have to go through, but you know with God, you’re going to get through!

They’re not tests and trials that God puts us through.  They really aren’t.  They’re actually tests and trials that God gets us through.  He’s not the tempter.  But Jesus did say, “in the world you’ll have tribulation.”  He overcame the world; so we can be confident that we can overcome.  And each time we overcome, it brings us closer to the Lord.  It gives us new and better understanding of Him.  It strengthens our faith and our courage to walk in faith.
