Your Victory Is Great In His Eyes

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we’re not supposed to be comparing ourselves to each other.  The message is about counting our victories, no matter how great or small.  In other words, every victory counts, and everyone’s victory counts.

The Lord sees each little conquest, each little improvement, each little bit of progress, as victory.  He doesn’t see the flaws; He sees the heart, and the efforts.  We aren’t compared with the great saints of history, with miracle workers of renown, or with anyone else at all.  We are precious and honored in God’s sight-regardless of who we might be standing next to, or behind, etc.  Jesus celebrates, along with the angels, each and every step up and/or forward, with each and every one of us, as individuals.  Scriptural references for this message are: 2 Corinthians 10:12, and Galatians 6:4

Saturday Silly – October 26, 2019

This little homeless woman was sitting in the parking lot of the grocery store.  There, on the curb, she was trying to eat a bit of dinner before heading on to find a place to sleep.  Another woman in a car came driving by.  Slowing down, she rolled down her window and yelled at the homeless woman, “that’s a heck of a place to be eating!”  Never missing a beat, or a bite, the homeless woman replied, “You’re absolutely right, and I’m going to fire that butler just as soon as I catch up to him!  I told him I wanted my table set by the time I got of the store.  And, I think he took off with my solid gold candlesticks, too; that jerk!”

It’s A Key To Temporal & Material Victory

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that there is no such thing as no work in the Kingdom of Heaven; no unemployment.

The message tells us that conquest over the physical self-life within is the key to conquest over material and temporal needs.  We are to seek victory; conquering in all things. There is no unemployment in the Kingdom of Heaven, we’re told.  When I read this, I think about (1 Corinthians 12:7-12) “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,…”

These gifts are given us so that we can work for the Lord, as we are told to do. “doing all things as if unto the Lord…” It is through and by our faith that we are able to put the gifts of the Spirit to work for and through us, no matter what we’re working at, or where.  When we apply them, they elevate our tasks to excellence, and empower us to change lives in positive ways.  I hope you’ll read the message for yourselves at twolisteners.org – it’s a very powerful one, and it will change the way you see your job, your chores and other duties at home, and your place in your communities.  2 Peter 1:3-8, and 2 Peter 3:13, as well as Ephesians 4:28, are also good scriptural references regarding this message.  When we strive to create that new earth here on the old one, we’re getting it right.  It’s just like striving to put on the new man, created in the likeness and image of God.  This message is so empowering in regard to our walk with the Lord, and our faith in His promises…especially the ones in Deuteronomy…the blessings of obedience.

Salt Of The Earth…Shake, Shake, Shake It

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, remind us that we’re the salt of the earth…so we need to be shake, shake, shakin’ it.

There are three types of keeping power that that salt brings.  First, it keeps us safe from harm.  Secondly, it keeps us spiritually unstained, untouchable by the world, and by evil.  Finally, and here’s where that salt shaker comes in, that salt protects and preserves from corruption, whatever portion of the world God places us in…just by our being there.  You know how it is when Mom’s home, or when you know that Mom’s going to know exactly what you were doing while she was gone?  Yeah, and that kept you from going there with that , didn’t it?  Most of the time, anyway.  LOL  No, really it’s more than that.  When we behold Jesus and His love for us, our hearts, minds, and attitudes are elevated, and we aspire to being better, to living at a higher level.  The same thing happens when people see us; when they see the results of our Lord’s influence in our lives.  Peter healed people when his shadow fell on them.  That’s power!  And that’s evidence of a powerful presence in Peter’s life.  The same is true, or is supposed to be true for us.  No, we don’t always get it right.  But, the more we learn, the greater in grace and all the fruits of the spirit we grow, the better we live…and the greater light we bring into the darkness.  That’s true of whatever situation we may find ourselves in.

The message tells us that it is only by abiding in that presence of God, and remaining very close to our Lord, that that keeping power reveals itself to us.  That means we must be in relationship with Him; intimate relationship.  And, as beautiful as our Lord is in every situation, every circumstance, etc., that’s a joy to think of, isn’t it?

It’s The Hill We All Must Climb

I used to hate climbing this hill…now, I run as fast as I can whenever I need to…You know what?  It’s usually all downhill from there…in a good way.  I chose The Gaither Vocal Band’s beautiful version of this song.  I hope it blesses you as much as it does me.

Did You Know You’re The Sacrifice?

Today’s message from God Calling -A.J. Russell, reminds us that there is a hill of sacrifice for all.  Some of us don’t know it, some of us don’t want to know it, and some know it all too well.  I’ve been in all three of those categories, by the way.  I’ll say a little more about that later.

The message speaks about trusting until the very end.  Jesus did that on Calvary.  We are told that this is the test that must come to every believer.  Abraham trusted right to the very end, and God provided the sacrifice.  As I read the message, I thought about Jesus, who was the sacrifice.  Then, God provided the sacrifice too.

How does that relate to us?  Yes, God has provided the sacrifice for us too.  Jesus died for all of mankind, to atone for our sins once and for all time.  That’s a done deal.  But, did you know that you are the sacrifice whenever you have to walk up that hill to Calvary’s cross?  Just like with Jesus, fear has to be cast away, the taunts, jibes, jeers, etc. have to be ignored, the pain of betrayal must not be allowed to hinder us.  Pride, I think, is the hardest thing sometimes.  I want to question God; “What are you thinking?!”  “Do you know what I’ve been through and what I’ve given?!!”  “Have you gone blind or deaf up there?!” “How dare you, after all I’ve given and done and gone through for you, God?!”  And then a little pigeon will limp up to you, babying the leg on the very same side as the one you injured, and look you right in the eye…not making a sound…and you know in your heart of hearts, that’s Jesus reminding you of Calvary.  Forgive me, Lord.  Please.

I was, for a short time once, stuck in that “knowing it all too well,” place.  EVERYTHING WAS A TRIAL OR TRIBULATION!  OMG!!  “No, dear,” said the Lord.  “You’re stuck in victim mode.  Poor, poor, pitiful me, dear.”  Not everything is a trial or tribulation.  Sometimes it is your attitude that needs to be sacrificed on that cross.  I believe the reason Jesus wore that crown of thorns was to illustrate to us how stinking thinking and bad attitudes can hedge our mind power in.  See, God still provides the sacrifice; if you’ll listen.

Furnishing The Quiet Places In Your Soul

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are building eternal houses.  As I read this, I think about our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit.  But, there’s another dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.  It is the house of our heart.

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.” (Matt. 12:35)  The NKJV uses, “out of the good treasure of his heart.”  This brings me to think about Solomon, who built the temple for the LORD.  Solomon was the one who asked for wisdom to rule over his people justly.

The message bids us to furnish the quiet places in our soul.  We are bid to fill them up with all things harmonious, good, beautiful, and enduring.  “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)  This scripture also comes to mind when I read this message.  Then, I think about my surroundings, my hobbies, my favorite things; things that touch my heart and soul.

There’s a reason God gave Beethoven and Rachmaninoff the talent He gave them.  There’s a reason somebody had a knack for making cheesecake.  There’s a reason roses bloom so beautifully, and lemons smell so awesome, and chocolate tastes so great no matter what form it comes in…these are some of my favorite things.  There’s a reason God gave me a granny that could crochet and cook and bake cheesecakes.  These things are what fill the quiet places in our souls.  They make us who we are.  They bring us peace, joy, laughter, and make us think…and feel.  Then, when we strive for excellence, nobility, righteousness, purity, loveliness in daily living, we are building beautiful hearts and storing up beautiful treasures within them.  It’s like a palace that just keeps getting more and more beautiful…and just wait until you get to Heaven and see it in all its glory!
