How The Race is Won

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we must press on, undaunted by the hurdles in front of us.  We are bid to rise above our fears and fancies into the joy of the Lord.  This message goes hand in hand with Saturday’s message about the best way.

The best way to win the race of life, is by the way that best suits the soul.  It is, after all, where we live.  That’s the part that will be going to Heaven.  Rising above fears and fancies (those are all those silly things we tell ourselves to deny the fears and such-or to cope with them) -rising above them is done via rigorous training of the soul.  Thus, we must always choose the way that best suits the soul.  “Will it be good for my heart, my soul?”  I’ve had to ask myself this question at times, and, quite often after I really got serious about God.  You know there are things you have to give up, even folks you have to walk away from for awhile, or for the long haul.

This what best suits the soul thing can be very gratifying as well as rigorous.  When you choose the Caramel creamer for your coffee on Sunday morning because Sunday is a special day, doesn’t that coffee taste a hundred times better than ever?  Yes!  One of my favorite treats is Philly Cheese Steak ANYTHING.  I don’t have it very often, but when I do, it tastes a hundred times yummier than all the other times I’ve eaten it.  Those are little treats that soothe our souls because they’re coming to our own little special need.  Quirks are the same.   You know; that’s where you have to have the shades drawn just so to be comfortable, or things like that.  When we honor those quirks, we’re honoring our uniqueness and our worth and worthiness as human beings.  All of these put together-the spiritual training and the loving of our souls, are the very things that make the race one that ends in victory.

Love you from Cafe du Mondieu
