Angels Among Us

Today’s message from God Calling – A.J. Russell, reminds us that we are not alone in this world, and we have friends in the heavenly places, as well as enemies.  Psalm 91 is one of my favorites to read; especially when things aren’t pretty.  “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.  You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.”

We are encouraged by the message not to despair or give up.  Remember this: “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  We usually don’t see those angels, but if you look with they eyes of your heart, and listen with your spiritual ears, they make themselves known to you.  I’m thinking of a little pigeon that limped up to me one day and looked me right in the eye.  He/she was babying the same leg that I was-I’d fallen down and hurt my knee earlier that morning.  I was feeling pretty down as I was eating my lunch.  That’s when the little dickens walked up to me.  I can almost hear Jesus laughing right now.  “Yes, and don’t forget I’m always with you too.”  It never ceases to amaze me how very much joy comes bubbling up over a little something like that, just when you need it.  Have I told you about the three sparrows who perched outside my window to chirp their thank yous for the seeds I put out for them?
