No Such Thing As Unemployment

Boy, oh, boy!  Let’s get off this pretzel thing, Lord!  I broke a wheel on my cart last night and had to limp it all the way home.  This morning, lo and behold, breakfast sandwich was on the menu.  At first glance, it looked like eggs, cheese, sausage and bacon, on a pretzel bun!  I thought to myself, “now that has to be St. Peter up there thinking he’s making jokes.  He probably whispered in the chef’s ear this morning, just to get a laugh on me!”  But he met his match if he did, because I believe in prayer, and Jesus said believe you’ve received it when you ask, so…you better watch out up there Uncle Pete!  Well, you all know he was kind of ornery, right?  LOL  Turns out the buns where just white bread though.  Lucky for one certain person.  And everything else is good; got the wheels replaced.

Today’s message from God Calling -A.J. Russell, reminds us that there are no idle hours in the Kingdom of Heaven.  That’s because ours is a ministry of reconciliation.  We’re called to love others, to uplift them and one another in Christ, and there’s always something going on that requires prayer, counseling, mentoring, ministering, etc.  See!  You’ve got the greatest job ever; and no lay-offs.

The message reminds us that even when we are “idling,” or we don’t have something going on out here in the world, we should have something going on in the spirit.  We can be building ourselves up within, perfecting love and praise for the Lord, and doing the work He gave us to do while we’re here.

When I read the message, I thought of the women in my family.  I mean my mom’s generation.  You didn’t dare complain about not having anything to do.  They’d find something for you to do.  But you know what?  That taught me that I can always find something to do.  And from that, I learned that I am not limited; I have alternatives and possibilities in every situation in which, seemingly nothing can be done.  Finally, if God promises to go before us and make a way, and He’s our rear guard, so that thief can’t get to what He’s got for us, why just sit there?  Get up and get busy-God’s waiting on you!

Love you from Cafe du Mondieu
