Today’s message from God Calling -A.J. Russell, reminds us that there is no such thing as idle time in the spirit. Even when nothing seems to be happening, we can be doing something within.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Our souls, our hearts, are where our living is done. It is within that attitudes, strengths, joys, and such are developed. Jesus said, “The good man, out of the good stored up within his heart, brings out good things.” The message references Jude 1:20 -“but you, dear friends, be building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.”
If your souls are where our living is done, then we need to furnish and adorn them, just as we do our physical homes. 1Peter 3:3&4 come to mind when I think of furnishing and adorning my soul. A gentle and quiet spirit, and whatsoever things are lovely, honorable, pure, just, excellent, praiseworthy, etc., as we read in Philippians 4:8; these are things we should attain to within. Making a heavenly home to dwell in, begins within. After all, we can’t get out of our skin until we are called home by the Lord.
We furnish and adorn our souls by learning and practicing those things we wish to attain; the qualities we aspire to. The fruits of the spirit, and qualities of agape love are the most beautiful of all. When we can fill our souls to overflow with these, the world around us can’t help but be changed in positive ways.
